Hey appreciate this through demonstration setup video! What I wanted to know is if you have had experience with connecting to any early model e36 with this cable ? I’ve tried in the past and failed but never had seen this tutorial so I’m willing to give it another chance. My car is a 1994 m3. So you mentioned to some people in the comments to purchase the kcan cable without the switch ? And what version of inpa works best with my model car and windows 10/11? I always was told inpa will only work for my car using an older operating system window xp ?

Hi Have you had any luck. I'm trying help out a friend with a 1997 M3. I have the cable (but not the one with the switch) and discs/software which I bought about 10 years ago and haven't used in a long time and obd1 adapter. Was going to try and give it a go to help him out. Just need to read his codes

I'm on windows XP. After plugging in my cable, there a sound. But after going into device manager I do not see "Ports (Com & LPT)" Help?-- it could be that I’m on virtual box that the window can’t communicate with vbox application.

"If you have an older model press shift..." are there any newer model of an old car like E46? what E46 are the older models please? and secondly, you also said the adapter cable should be used when working on older E46, when I bought my K-DCan cable I specifically asked the seller and told him my car was E46 from 2001 and he said all I need was that normal kdcan cable and not some other new cable. Anyways, I get "VIN is faulty" error, what am I doing wrong?

For me COM4 did NOT work! It was COM1! I guess it depends on other factors. I'm using a virtual machine (on Mac) with INPA 5.0.2 which could have something to do with it.

same here, got it to work though, the obd file was set to Com1, changed it to Com4, then put that file in the c:\window directory. I don't there's anything special about Com4, he needs to update his information.

@Mazel_Tov_888 The cable that was used in the video is without a switch (Can Dcan K line) and communicates from COM 1 to COM4 port. Usually you have to have it set for COM 4 but it might be the case that COM4 is already in use from different devices (USB keyboard, mouse, printer and so on...) in that case you can use any other free port COM 1, 2 or 3. Hope this clears a few questions

You can but is not recommended because the k+dcan cable has a slower transfer rate as the ethernet cable that is being used for the F series. You can do small changes like lights, mirrors and so on but not reflash

The light on my cable is yellow witch means inpa should be recognizing the cable but it is not. Also were did you get your inpa down load I got mine from bimmergeek.

The led should be red. Yellow means error. Check with inpa if bouth of the dots on the top screen are black. If they are it's ok. If not cable ost not installed properly

With inpa you can not. Is going to delete all the faults. You can select one module to delete codes from the one selected but will delete all

You can download the program for free from some forums. Just Google download INPA and you will find something. Or you can search on Amazon or eBay for INPA and you can buy it as well. For example in Germany it's illegal to download something from internet so check first if that is legal in your country.

It still won't communicate, even with 2 black dots. When selecting the different profiles, it gives only faults. Any ideas? I watched several video's about the software and this is the second cable already... There is much said about needing to bridge pin 7 and 8, but even that does not work for everyone. The cars involved are E46 from 1998 and 2001 and 2002.

First you have to have a cable without any switch! Second, for the cars that you wrote you will need an adapter between the obd and cable because the obd is different populated. Or you can connect with the plug on the engine bay (the round one) were available but again you need an adapter for that as well. For more you can contact me on social media @warpdrivem

What I've showed in the video applies only to Bmw. For audi you need VCDS software and VAG specific cable

Poti cu ista-p. Daca ai înlocuit filtrul cu unul curățat poti doar sa stergi erorile si sa mergi cu masina aprox 30 km sa isi face regenerare si se înregistrează automat. (Autostrada sau drum extraurban sa ai aproximativ 10 km cu turatie 3000 rpm)

Salut, trebuie sa verifici prima data dacă este liber com4 la tine, câteodată e ocupat de alte conexiuni, poate merge și pe com1. Sa ai cablu fără comutator (switch) sa schimbe automat can bus-ul

There are some drivers for the cable. But in most of the cases you don't need to install them because the PC will recognize the cable and will install automatic the needed drivers

Mostly is because you have the wrong com selected, or wait time from cable is 16ms. This will reset itself from time to time. Ise the same port and usb slot always and try with every port available from 1 to 4! Of course wasit response time for the cable shoud always be 1 ms. @@WarpDriveM I solved it! I throwed the CD away and downloaded a newer MUCH simpler version. Now it's working. But I run this on W10 64bit so I don't think I have full access of everything. Get some errors in some test-modes. Gonna get a older laptop for this later. Got INPA, NCS-expert, Tool32 and WinKFP. Thanks for your help
