Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

I’m right handed and for the past 25 years, I’ve been using left handed baitcasters and have received flack for doing so...but am able to set the hook much quicker. Not sure why more bass fisherman use this approach; makes sense to me! Thanks for great instructions and for reaffirming that this technique works!

Used your technique, which I had practiced for a week prior to going fishing. Got my personal best on Falcon Lake on Valentine Day. Got a 10.2 oz and several nines, along with 8's and 6"s...... thirty fish in three days. Caught only one dink.......Would have caught more sows if had I perfected the bait entry better......getting ready to back soon.....won't go back, till I can drop the bait without a splash. The best instructional tutorial on flippin out there.

That's what makes us better than before. I'm working on this myself but I won't give up until I master it like the other methods I already know.

What is ur reel set to? Are the brakes turned off? How do u not birds nest? Is the weight of the jig have to be heavy? 1/2 oz ounce? So many questions my apologies but would really like to add this to my repertoire

what is the best pitching weight ,not punching , pitching to a hole in pads or to a post, I know it varies but an average, with almost no tension on the spool.

I agree on the left hand reel for right handed fishermen. But braided line can be problematic with that setup.

Is his bail open for flipping
@andywilliamson78467 жыл бұрын
There's no bail on a baitcaster, Dustin. Mr. Hicks probably should have mentioned that the reel is always engaged when flipping, except for periodic line length adjustments.
