How To Counter Balance A Motorcycle | Make Your Feel Less Heavy
In this video I demonstrate two techniques of counter balancing"on seat" and a "little off seat" balancing.
Try this if you are fearing leaning your bike while preforming slow tight turns.
In order to make tight turns at slow speeds, don't be afraid to lean the bike.
You can make your heavy bike appear to weigh less, by counter balancing it.

You had the best explanation on how to do the maneuver with as little words as possible and getting to the point quick. Other instructors do so much talking you lose interest in their lesson.

Every skill you teach and explain how to do just increases my knowledge for the street. Yes I've been riding for years, but we do tend to get lazy and forget the fundamentals from time to time...this is the real deal people...Look, listen and learn. Thanks Boots and Jeans...this is Good KZbin.

I appreciate that Tony, don't know how I missed this comment. Yes the fundamentals got us there so we must not get lazy and forget them. Trust...we have been there, I had a GW 1500 also and had to relearn the basic slow skills that I took for granted while riding a smaller bike.

@scubarider1
@scubarider1 3 жыл бұрын
@@BootsandJeansRiders I did mean counterbalancing. When I’m going at higher speeds in the twisties, I push the bike away from me and sit up straight off the seat like you showed in the video. I guess you could call it a combination of counterbalancing and countersteering.

Great video Rich. You have a new subscriber. I turn 62 next month and buying a new bike for my birthday. I have not been on a motorcycle in 17 years since I sold my Harley Street Glide. I do love the heavier bikes with fatter tires and eyeing the Low Rider ST but not sure if it's wise for a old man to but a 727 lb motorcycle. So watching all the videos I can on safety and going to take the MSF course gain and any advanced riding courses that Harley offers. Even thinking about taking a few private lessons from Jerry Paladino or Robert Simmons as I am sure you know of those two retired motorcycle cops who also have great YT channels. What's your thoughts about an old man buying a heavy bike that has fairings and saddlebags which I definitely need? Thanks for the great content and learned a lot from this this video. Safe travels my friend🙏

First, welcome to our channel, and thank you for subscribing. And welcome back into the motorcycle world. Taking another class is the best move you can make when getting back into riding after a long layoff. Jerry and Robert are the way to go. I've met Robert and he is a great guy. Haven't met Jerry. My thoughts on a heavy bike are...The bike isn't heavy when you know how to handle it in slow situations. So with that, go for it!
@director2bob
@director2bob 23 күн бұрын
@@BootsandJeansRiders Thanks for the reply and I agree, a bike is not heavy once you can master the friction zone , rear brake , throttle control etc and practice, practice and more practice. Thanks again for a wonderful informative channel.👍
@MonkeyButtRides
@MonkeyButtRides 3 жыл бұрын
Yup! That is exactly what I do in slow maneuver situations. We do it in motocross to when the turn is flat and there nothing to hold the bike, because it's dirt you have keep your weight on top of the bike instead of leaning with the bike so you don't slide out. Another slick camera angle. You should start your own in person riding school, with masks of course..

Hey MB. We were watching dirt track racing last Sunday and thing how fantastic those rider were. I think that it takes far more skills and concentration to ride like you all ride than regular street riding. I know it's different, but I truly believe it's more skillful.
