Regarding 4:37, what Amanda Hesser is demonstrating with the "lever" on the underside of the crab's abdomen is actually called its apron. In her example, the narrow shape of the crab's apron indicates that it is a male. Regarding 4:48, those things are not really crab lungs, because crabs do not have lungs. Instead crabs have gills to breathe underwater. Crab gills are also known as "dead man's fingers" and hence should not be eaten.

haha enjoyed this as i eat a 3 pound dungeness crab... these gals should try one.. they are sweeter than lobster and a bout 5 or 6 times as much meat as a blue crab.. 1 dungeness per person is a large portion
