I’ve literally been trying to figure this out for an hour cause no one brings it up. I can’t believe how easy it was to just mention how they can be upgraded in crafting. Honestly screw all the other videos that left it out, its like the only part the game doesn’t tell you.

During week 1 we are capped at 810 soul ash. At week two will we have enough soul ash to craft a rank 2 legendary (210 item level) straight away? or will we have to start at rank 1 (190 item level)?

Rank 2 costs 2000 so next week if we only have layer 3's again we will have 1420 ash, so only enough for rank 1. Even if we get layer 4 its only 160 ash or so extra. You can also wait for raid week(3 week) to outright craft your rank 2, you will probably save a lot of soul ash that way. couldn't predict that when this guide was made, they changed quite a few things.

R3 & R4 will take a couple more weeks, if we just doing layer 3's we getting 610 plus maybe some extra from the table or torghast story quests. Maybe 3 weeks from now for rank 3. But remember feel free to craft rank 1, all the subsequent upgrades now cost the same regardless if you upgrade or craft outright. E.G if you have a rank 1 and want to upgrade to rank 2 costs 750 ash on top of the 1250 it took to craft rank 1. If you craft rank 2 it will cost 2000 ash total in one go. Strategy is simple, craft your bis one at rank 1 and upgrade overtime, some classes have different bis for different situations though and upgrade that to max.

What profession do you suggest picking up for mains and alts for pure money making?

Gathering professions gonna be big due to no multi-boxers and for the legendaries, so will Alchemy especially at the start. Armor crafting will likely net you good gold in the long run with the higher ranks for legendarys but you also have to invest quite a bit. Have to see how it will develop.

On beta you could skip if you wanted to, on live if you delay creating your lego till raid week you can go straight to rank 2, since you will reach 2000 soul ash, just not sure if blizz will lock and prevent that through the runercarver quest or something else.

Oh thats different, you can craft all ranks of the base items right now by leveling up each rank individually. Example you craft 15, Rank 1 Base Item you get Rank 2 then the same for rank 3. If you don't have the recipe at all for the initial base item, if I'm understanding your question, you get it for free after you do the quests related to the runecarver which you get by following Torghast quests. Starts as a key quest item on one of the first Torghast runs, at the last boss.
