Mt cats used to be so scared . Just got the crates down a few days ago and they already are going in, sleeping when im not looking in them. eating treats inside the carrier! Im so thankful to be this far already haha. I cant believe they don't mind the crates now even though they were the evil enemy 2 years ago. I am about to start feeding them inside. thank you for the tips loved your video. we move in 2 months so plenty of time for them to get used to it!

I accidentally crate trained my cat as part of her diet. I adopted her chonky, and noticed that she ate her food awfully fast and then started begging right away, so I had to divide each meal into smaller portions. Part of the meal is served through toys/puzzles and a few small plates are hidden around the apartment. Since I didn't want her to get used to eating whatever she finds in my food prep areas (my parents did that with their cats, that's how you get thieving paws on your ham sandwich) I was a little strapped for good plate hiding spaces. So one plate went on the bedroom dresser, a small bowl of kibble below her play rug and the last little plate goes into the cat carrier. Funny thing though, aside from having the carrier in the same room she was eating in right from the start, I barely eased her into that at all. I might have placed the bowl shallowly in the carrier once or twice at first to make sure she knew it was there, then I shoved it all the way to the back of the carrier and food motivation did the rest. I never thought to teach her to turn around though, since this was all about making her "hunt" all over the apartment instead of intentional crate training, but since she's already gotten this far I'll try placing the plate in the corner from now on. Thank you for the video :)

I have never seen a crate like that. The ones we have here and then I’ve always seen are the suitcase type crates which are fabric covered dark inside or the plastic crates which are also covered in dark inside.
@MicolAndOtherAnimals3 жыл бұрын
Yes they are. The owner of a kitty rescue recommended them to me, saying that the plastic ones can suddenly open. I didn't believe her and got a plastic one... and it opened. While walking on the street. ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. So I followed her advise and have never looked back. These are great for air exchange and can be covered if kitty needs protection, AND they are safe to use and won't open on you when you least expect it! 😃

@@MicolAndOtherAnimals I am also very curious about the brand or type of crate this is? I think my cats would be MUCH more comfortable in this type than the suitcase style ones we currently have.

I've just finished watching all your videos on create training, I will try again because I've had my cat Lupita for 3 months and no go .. I would like to know where did you purchase your create in white see through for your cats, that is ideal for anyone to train or there cat to be comfortable. Thanks have a good week

Training cats can be challenging for sure! Don’t be discouraged and remember, it’s not about the crate. It really helps to keep it in mind! I haven’t been able to find crates exactly like mine, (I bought them in Europe) but you can get a very small dog wire crate… small dogs are basically as big as cats! Like this one for example (www.amazon.com/MidWest-Folding-Divider-Protecting-Leak-Proof/dp/B000OXAER2/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=Cat+crate+wire&qid=1629105253&sr=8-13).

I placed my cat crate on the ground, open and put a soft planket in the crate to gain more smell in it, second day my cat went in the crate by herself, (the crate is like a traveling "soft" crate) ^^ we have a little less than a month to get her even somewhat comfortable until I have to take her with me. I gotta travel few hundred kilometres and I don't have any babysitter options for my kitty, and I don't like the thought of kennels so.. Catvs coming with me

I was only able to view this video today but I had to put our cat in a crate since I will be giving it to a friend for adoption. Obviously this cat is not yet trained to stay in a crate, he's a bit noisy & agitated. Is it okay to just let it stay there for a few days and allow the cat to relax and get accustomed to the crate?

I never understand why people crate their animals. cats and dogs like to roam free and if it's for people's convenience and they shouldn't have pets
@MicolAndOtherAnimals3 жыл бұрын
I get where you’re coming from. My animals don’t spend their days in their crates, but they are used to being in there for meals, which has really helped when I have had to take them to the vet or when we’re moving: they can get in their crates and travel comfortably, without being stressed out, and that has made a huge difference for us!
@neeonbunny46153 жыл бұрын
@@MicolAndOtherAnimals Hello :) I have a question regarding taking your cats to the vet. Do you take your cats to the vet in the same carrier/crate that you use for feeding them? If so, wouldn't they dislike going in the crate afterwards? My cats hate going in there because of vet vistis :/
@MicolAndOtherAnimals3 жыл бұрын
I have been using the same crate, without an issue. Honestly, they use it twice a day for food, and only once or twice a year for the vet… so it’s a food crate, not vet crate 😊
