You do not have to upscale image. You can resize object in ex. Unity and change pixel interpolation on the texture.

What makes it really hard to making a game is that you need a team for each department. You need a sound team, an animation team, a graphics team, Story board team and you need a director and a producer. Making a game is very tough for one person to do.

No it's not how you think. i work alone in my studio and it's not what you think. It is hard tho, but not how you look at it.

I think it probably depends on what type of game ur trying to make and how complex and elaborate u want it to be mostly. I actually have : 1. Read about and taught myself how to draw fairly ok. I mean I’m not Van Gogh obviously or super good or famous but my artwork has improved pretty decently in a relatively fair time span 2. The understanding of fundamental coding from reading about the topic periodically (only in certain languages) 3. An innate ear for music. I actually am good at picking up tones and though I have literally only a basic understanding of how to play some instruments, I literally can start out playing a melody and can then hear in my head what would sound good coming next, then find the keys on the instrument and play them in that order. I’ve even hear melody in dreams before that I woke up and was able to play despite not knowing the actual names of each not initially ( trust me this is not impressive when u look at professional artists and how talented some of them are) 4. Messed around with animation in unity as well as watched a petite amount of tutorials So all of this would definitely help me on at least a basic level to give me a general understanding of how to make a game. I however am not a professional or prodigy, For instance, if I wanted to make a game with a basic background, a ball that u moved around and coins with blocks, I could probably do that all in like 2 hours. Drawing, coding and music and sound effects with animation probably like 3 and a half hours, but being the huge procrastinator I am it would probably take me more like 3 days. However if I had to make a game like halo by myself with shooting and somewhat decent 3D models and weapons and maps without too much intricate details? Ur looking at like 6 months probably on my skill level( we are of course excluding any type of campaign or professional 3D crafted models) We would also be thinking on a timeframe where I had the time and was willing to work all the time on it or a lot but I’m a procrastinator so probably more like a year. But yea I would say it’s not exactly easy. That’s why they have teams that work on video games to get them done faster and it can still take those professional game developers like a year to make a game like fallout or more. Even just animating a cartoon can be some tedious work, with the story development, characters and animation. Look at how long the creators of rick and morty have to go at it to make one season that we watch in like a week and they have a whole team. I might eventually just make a bs game to put on the AppStore one day but not anything too complex. It’s fun for hobbies for me but not too much tedious stuff

What if I want to make a complex character like a SNK or Capcom fighter should I make the arms and legs on a separate layer to avoid much redrawing of the body on various frames? thanks

Hey Hisham, I am very sorry I've been inactive for so long. Things in my life got complicated and I wasn't able to upload. I had to get a 9 to 5. I teach pixel art and painting at a local school as well, part time. I am going to start uploading again soon.
