How to Create a Fashion Cad for Fashion Design

A fashion CAD can be extremely important to a team. They are used to show a fashion technical drawing or flat sketch in the colors and fabrics it’s carried in. If you are using CAD for fashion design, a CAD can be a great opportunity to show a new fashion design flat sketch as well as the entire line and how it should be merchandised.
And usually you are drawing your fashion flat sketch on the computer, and in most cases in the fashion industry, you are using illustrator for fashion design.

just want to know, this software only in 2D ? or can convert to 3D?

@@junaidihuri4229 thanks for watching and commenting. Illustrator is a 2D software. Unfortunately, you can’t “convert” it to 3D. You need patterns for these styles to build them in 3D.

Does the software create measurements as well so that I can customise then print the design on paper and start cutting then sewing

Hi, Janet. Thanks for watching and commenting! Sorry I missed responding to this earlier. You are right. Even though people pretty much live and die by the CADs, it's a job relegated to the lowest person on the totem pole. Usually the very underpaid assistant has to do them, and these days, they're not paying much. You might find CAD listed under job descriptions for assistant designers or CAD artist or even sketch artist, and they might pay them around $10-$15/hour:( A lot of manufacturers offer as part of their services so unless you bundle it with something else, just doing this doesn't offer much $$ these days.

CAD stands for computer aided design and is really a catch all for any type of design done with the help of digital software. However, over the years, within the industry, a CAD (or color CAD) has come to mean a page showing your designs in color in all the different color options that are available. Usually, it also lists the style #, description and fabrication, sometimes even price.
