Very cool! There's always something new to learn. I figured out the mirrored component trick on my own a few years back when I did a house model with a swimming pool and wanted it to reflect in the water. But I didn't realize you could apply textures to the backside of a surface, plus make a 100% transparent texture. Thanks for that!

Nicholas Holden Not likely. SketchUp is a modeler, not a renderer. We leave that to the rendering experts!

Actually I had this very same idea some years ago, based on the similar concept of the mirror wall process already shown in Quick Wins. Guess I had suggested it to Aaron... It's neat to find out what one can do by exploring the native tools.

Hey. I am new to all of this Sketchup and I am blown away how easy is to bring ideas to 3D with it. Currently I am working on a concep that requires superimposed a floor and a subfloor. I want to simulate (I actually do not know if this is something S can do) a dynamic movement of a weight over the top floor making it flex (think of this behavior as walking on a jumping-net). As the weight displaces over it and then rebound back as it leaves the spot. Thanks

7:50 You could always put something under mark, maybe a rectangle that matches the default ground color.

Would be nice to add real reflections though. Nothing too fancy, just a "single-stage"(if you're looking at a surfaced, defined as reflected, reflect stuff)!

7:34 you could draw a plane under Mark's feet. The plane would block the view partially so you could see Mark's reflection only on the floor.

In physics its specular and diffuse reflection, kind of. You could also call it active reflection since its actively reflecting whats below it.

Nice Aaron... Call it Shining the Floor. Can you believe that just recently I have discovered a new way to draw a rectangle more precisely. I guess it should be on your next quick win vid.

ACTUALLY, WILL SKETCHUP EVER HAVE A BUILT IN RENDER PACKAGE? ITS BEEN SUCH A LONG TIME, WHEN ARE YOU GUYS GOING TO ADD VALUE TO SKETCHUP AGAIN. EVERY YEAR THE UPDATES GET LESS AND LESS ENTICING. REFLECTIVE SURFACES AND BUILT IN RENDERING SHOULD BE PART OF SKETCHUP BY NOW.
