@@ides.studio That's amazing! If you have any tips on tailored jackets or anything in that realm that would be interesting. Other than that, I am happy to see what else you have planned 😊

When I select Mesh Box, I don't see my Waistband to be in different colour and I am not able to identify & select the Waistband extension with Mesh tool. Instead when I do it, it's pulling the Waistband extension like how Hand does after Simulation. I tried to bring the Right side (not right side of wearer but on screen) of Waist band to Layer 1, but that is also not working to bring the Pant to a finish.

If it's pulling with the hand tool it sounds like maybe you're trying to use select mesh with simulation turned on? You need to turn simulation off when using select mesh. I recommend selecting in the 2D window to get exactly what you want and then click once on the green that you see in 3D and use the gizmo to move it. Let me know if this helps. It's really difficult to know exactly what you mean when I can't see what's happening on your screen in real time, but I'll do my best to help!

Hey! Thanks for you videos! However, I don't understand why there are 2 pieces. According to my basic denim jean and clo3D, I feel like the fly on the right is useless. Only the internal line on the leg on the right and the fly sewn on the left are useful. I might miss something Thanks in advance

Good question! This is mimicking, but simplifying a real life fly. This piece helps clean finish the CF edge and also gives a double layer for the j-stitch to go through, reinforcing the fly. It’s not 100% necessary in 3D but I do think it makes the fly look more realistic.

@@ides.studioOk thanks for your answer! Then I don't understand exactly the goal of CLO. Is clo useful only to see your idea in 3D instead of only the sketches on illustrator?(So we don't care about if the pattern are logic or not but we only want the clothes to look realistic) Or as a designer, we also need clo to create the pattern and send the file to the manufacturers in the techpack? Thanks in advance

It totally depends how you use it. Sometimes doing the patterns 100% realistically isn’t practical in 3D, but if I’m printing my pattern I will have the real pattern in the file off to the side for printing. 3D is super useful for yes, seeing the garment to scale, realistically, in 360 view instead of a sketch, for seeing simple fit/design changes instantly, for e-commerce or internal sales when you don’t have samples, and more. But there are tricks to making the pattern a bit easier to work with in 3D and that’s what I try to show.

@@ides.studio I'm also a bit puzzled by the construction. As a physical pattern maker looking to expand my techniques to digital pattern making. In the beginning of the video you said you use clo as a tool for physical production, however this is not how I could send my patterns to my manufacturer. And I think it's more important to send workable/production-ready patterns to a manufacturer then a 3d reference design in my opinion. I think a lot of designers feel the same way, is there any way you could make videos on workable/production-ready patterns? Love the videos though, I'm using a lot of it for reference

Hi there, A workable/production friendly pattern can absolutely be used. It's just that certain construction- this fly in particular- are really just not worth the time/effort to do them properly in 3D. But most of what I do is true to life. In these cases, I would probably have the real patterns in the 2D window and just have them labeled as non-3D and hidden in the 3D window. I use 3D as a stepping stone in the production process. The 3D process can serve as a 1st, 2nd, 3rd proto in lieu of physical samples to reduce the total sample count and improve the accuracy of them. You can export DXF or PDF patterns from CLO and you can either grade in CLO or simply import your .RUL file. I know CLO's pattern making isn't ideal for some expert pattern makers used to Lectra or Gerber, etc. But is there something specific about it that you can't do? Like I said, there are just certain things you have to do a bit differently in 3D, but you can almost always use your real pattern as is.@@Marty8734
