Remove shoes when entering house Fresh sheets weekly along with a quick shower rinse before bed to remove pollen and other allergens Clean fridge weekly while taking inventory for grocery list Maximize sunlight to avoid mold and mildew growth If not washing dishes rinse to remove pest attracting food Place food waste in sealed container as not to attract pests and reduce odors Hang damp towels and clothes so they can thoroughly dry as to prevent mold and mildew

Opening all the windows and allowing fresh, clean air in is my go-to healthy home habit! I moved from NYC to the French countryside, right across from a forest, so the air from the tree is just lovely. Not health related - but I also love having a little space where I keep creative, hygge - like activities! Just a little creative corner where I keep my letter writing kit, all my feather quills, polaroid cameras, notebooks, and youtube gear! I also love to add fresh flowers to my space every week! It adds vibrancy, freshness and is just an overall lovely simple joy to express appreciation for everyday :)

I’ve been making the switch to a more natural & sustainable home so this is great. One way I’ve been organizing & financing it since it can be a large investment at first is every time I’m running low but not out of a product I research DIY and natural ready to buy products to determine what’s going to work best for my lifestyle right now so that way I’m not frantically trying to figure out what is best in the moment and just stick to old habits. I also have been adding something like a stasher bag or some glass containers to my cart every time I grab groceries so I can make the transition slowly. Hope this helps!

Each week I will air my quilt blankets and pillows outside in the sun. I hang the blankets and quilts over the veranda railings. They smell so fresh after. Its something my mother used to do. We spent a year in a little villiage in Brazil where the people had German ancestry. They had very German houses and would hang their bedding out like this each week. I thought it made the little houses look even more quaint and homely. I have never seen anyone else do this here is Australia and I dont understand why.

Another simple thing you can do to improve air quality in the home is to use the vent hood over the stove every time you cook. If you don't have one, crack a window, do what you can to get fresh air in. (Especially with a gas stove, if you have a vent hood it's such an easy practice to use it and it makes a big difference). Thanks for the tips.

I have a question about diffusing oils. With the current concern with “popcorn lung” and vaping, and now that they have discovered this condition is caused by breathing in the oils contained in the vape, how does that fare in light of diffusing essential oils? Is it safe to breathe in vaporized oils just like we would if using a vape? What are your thoughts on this? Great video and great ideas. Thank you!

I prefer bulbs that mimic natural sunlight (not blue lights) as I am extremely sensitive to the color yellow in general (yellow makes me feel anxious, depressed and ill). I'm slowly switching my lighting to more natural light instead of the sickly warm yellow bulbs. But this kind of thing is extremely individual. And, it took me a long time and experimentation to realize that my lighting was making me feel unwell.

#2: Or microgreens! :) We've started microgreens and have an outdoor garden, as well. We also intend to grow indoor lettuce, especially over the winter. We have indoor plants, too, but several have died since we bought them because I'm terrible at keeping them watered and fertilized. But some tough ones are still going strong. Very happy about that! #1 on that list is our aloe plant. I almost think that they are happiest when ignored. We have another couple that have done very well, but I have no idea what they're called. Oh well. (You can probably tell I'm not much of an indoor gardener, but I think I make up for it in that we focus our energy on our vegetable garden.) Question: From what brand did you buy your bed sheets? It took a long time for my husband to find a decent set because so many of the organic ones we found online (primarily on Amazon) had a lot of bad reviews. You obviously have good ones, so I'd like to know. :) We have both overhead lights and lamps, and this is important to us because being able to wind down with low lighting in the evening is important to relax before bed, but there are some tasks where you just need to be able to see well. Like hunting down invading mosquitoes (a major problem lately), or reading small print. So we like to be able to use either option, depending on our needs. But we definitely prefer lamplight before bed. The only rooms that don't have lamps are the bathrooms and laundry room.

I would like to have house plants soon, What advices would you give me?(im from France so I might have made mistakes)
@meghanlivingstone4 жыл бұрын
Start with low maintenance plants! Spider plants, pothos, snake plant, are good options. Also not overwatering or underwatering - paying attention to how dry/moist the soil feels/looks and also what the plants leaves look like can tell you a lot (e.g. wilted, droopy). And giving them the right amount of light. Googling this for specific plants is helpful! I've also learned just by placing them in different areas and seeing how they respond. You get the hang of it the more you care for them!

I would really love to have house plants! Unfortunately my cat eats them every single time, no matter what I do or where I "hide" them! And I literally mean eats them. I got a spider plant the other day with tons of leaves and thought maybe he would just nibble on a few of them and get tired of it. Nope! I came home from work the next day and that sucker was eaten down to the soil. Not a shed of green left to be seen! Poor thing! I have officially given up.
