this is absolutely gorgeous!! I have a question about your wall easel set up... I'll look to check if you have a video about it and how it works. I just ask because I have a very large canvas...bought it years ago when they were 70% off😊 but I've really waffled on what I want to do on it, so I've done nothing 🤦🏻♀️ if I did a pour I'd need it to be smooth, and the other stuff I want to do would all involve texture. but...I'll figure it out...but if I can't soon I'm just gonna slap some paint on it just to not have it staring at me as I walk by it😳😊 but, I'd need to get it up in the wall somehow. so I'm curious about your set up :) and this is absolutely gorgeous!!! thanks so much for sharing your work!!

Thank you for asking! I have long (3" screws) in the studs that stick out about a 1/2". I just hang the back of the canvas on the them. Super easy and super convenient! I hope you have lots of fun with your large canvas!

@@BettyFranksArt thank you so much for answering!! Thats super smart! Looks like maybe it just lean against the 2x4 at the bottom? Such a great idea!! Then you can have it for lots of sizes them too! Very nice!!! So smart :) Thank you again for the information and the encouragement 😊 I just wish I could pick something, I can see, in my head, the sky/ocean feel and so then the types of colors in general...my trouble is liking too many different styles of painting and probably being nervous I won't do a good enough job. But...I need to figure it out. You know when you have something in your head and at first it's ok rolling around in the background, but it slowly presses forward until you can't stop thinking about it and you need to get it out of your head? Yea, I'm about to that, so I need to figure it out. Jist so many beautiful styles that I love....I think I'll maybe see if I can do more then one....I don't know🤦🏻♀️ but, thanks to you I definitely know how to hold it up and its something that we have the stuff for or we couldn't for a bit. So, thank you :) just need to heal more and then I'll get to it :) You're work is so inspiring! Thank you again!!!

Betty, to “unstuck” a lid from the jar of acrylic: I heat about 1-or 2”of water in a small container ( if using a microwave heat for about 40second) , put your jar upside down in the warm water for about a minute or two . The water should be just tiny bit above the hight of the lid. Now try to open the jar - for me it works each time. Good luck! Could you tell me please what kind is your “ rubber spatula” is it a silicon wedge? I am not able to find it. Thank you very much!

To: Betty Krause Art - I get that! I’m trying to take over the front of the basement of our house for a single studio. Right now I have three studios: one for each activity that sort of run into each other: 1. For painting. It has wonderful light but not enough space. 2. For sewing and art quilt making: back of the kitchen (think mud room) and three: the old fav of artists worldwide, the dining room (or sometimes kitchen). They each have drawbacks. Do you have a video about your painting studio?

Hi Betty, why did you paint over the initial design, I don't understand that part of the process..nice work though!

Hi Tony, my first layers are to build up layers and create texture--otherwise my painting (to me) would feel very flat and lifeless. First, remember that they commissioned your art because they love what you have created in the past. Yes, commissions can be stressful because you want your customer to be happy. But, that's what gets us to create our best work. It's important to ask questions up front like what colors they prefer, what pieces of yours do they like best and why, etc. I found that if I ask several questions up front, the customer is much happier in the end (and so am I!). You got this!

Beautiful painting. I am just wondering why at the beginning you paint all these colours first yellow, orange, red, black, then eventually you paint over it with blues, black, green why not just paint with these colours at the beginning? Same for the top of the painting you paint it all blue then cover with looks like white/grey. I am new to painting and have seen many artists do this technique, just curious as to why this is done when artists paint over the beginning colours. I am not criticizing at all just curious.

Like it! Yr pro. But omg this way you can’t make any mistakes for sure as you can keep on & going on, on. No critic okay its the way i paint as its hard work. Sometimes you have to stop though as it finished but you dont know.

How do you stick canvas on the wall?
@BettyFranksArt5 жыл бұрын
I have screws drilled into the studs. Then I just hang my canvas on the screws. I also have 4 mil plastic (found in the paint department at your local hardware store) on my walls to catch all the paint.

Well done! It's really beautiful, a lot of work! Very inspiring. As I watching it I was wondering if you have come across the new acrylics from Sennelier,mother French company called Abstract acrylics. They come in nice plastic pouches that can be used straight on to the canvas. Sennelier has its own KZbin channel with some demonstrations. They also come with different nozzles to create different effects.

Why paint red, yellow etc and then cover it all up?
@BettyFranksArt3 жыл бұрын
By painting those colors first, it adds texture and bits of the color show through on the final layer. It adds so much more depth to the painting. Thanks for watching!
