What would be a good/unique color scheme for a Native American inspired Space Marine Chapter?
@WhatareyouPaintingnow Жыл бұрын
I would start by looking at images of tribes you like, then find something from there. The idea of Native American needs to be spoke more with the theme, than the colour scheme. But personally I like one that you will find on a basic google search which is saturated blue and red with bright yellow accents and white accents. A classic good guy colour scheme
@ChaseDaOrk3767 Жыл бұрын
@@WhatareyouPaintingnow That could work
@dallonrobbins5078 Жыл бұрын
I'd suggest doing a deep dive, there are dozens upon dozens of different tribes, a lot of their cultures and colors stem from where they live and what they value. For example tribes in the south west live in desert climate, hunting that is more common in other tribes isn't as reliable so farming becomes more prevalent. So lots of light earth tones and reds become more common and the colors of blue and green become much precious and symbols of life. So I'd narrow your search and ask, what type of climate are they from? Are there specific land features that this tribe prefers, how wet or dry? How cold or warm, what animals are most prevalent? For those in the great plains it was the buffalo, but in the far north, it would be whales or wolves, or even moose. I'd suggest using available resources to help build what colors the chapter would wish to symbolize them. I hope this helps.

You know, this is something I've thought about a lot. I've always wanted to choose a legion but I never liked any except for the Word Bearers (Pre-Heresy) with their original color slate gray but I never really decided why they were my favourites, but so much time passed that I just accepted that there was no other legion i really like, just the pre-heresy word bearers and gray color scheme. If they were any other color, I feel like I wouldn't like them at all but now I find myself reading their story and painting my own army of loyal Word Bearers, all because of that color that I loved so much which is weird because i don't care for the grey knights at all. I was making a custom chapter for a couple of years now. It begins when i ran a couple of d&d games with some sort of OC, that was once a knight. Sudenly after those games i decided, that he had to be coming from a knights order, while at the same time 40k dropped primaris marines. So i started trying to kitbash something that would fit this very raw idea, since i want sure what they were about. In that period of time just for this sake of creating them i read alot of books and wiki, constantly changing them to fit not only my liking, but the universe they are about to be merged into. I repainted and reassembled my models couple of times, but that was worth it. Now they have have both desine i can enjoy and a back story fitting in the 40k world.

In my opinion, the right and opportunity to invent your own custom homebrew homemade Space Marine Chapter (Hive Fleet, Craftworld, Stormhost, Free City, and so on) is the main Power of Warhammer. This is exactly what once took me away from historical modelism (with its insane pursuit of realism and endless rivet counting) and led me to Warhammer Freedom. ... Unfortunately, this freedom is enjoyed by an overwhelming minority. Basically, I see endless faceless blue or yellow "legions" of clones, even without heraldry and numerical designations.
@WhatareyouPaintingnow Жыл бұрын
Some of the times people don't know how to guide their design decisions, so they just stick with what they know, that is the issue with too much freedom, when you have all the options, you become stressed and just go with what you know in the end. Like you said, you come out with the disappointing result of seeing the same result everywhere. That is why, we hope this video helps to guide people, in know what considerations are involved in making your custom marines and maybe now we maybe might see less clones - Sunny

True to their moniker, they are stealthy warriors hailing from the lineage of Corvus Corax, infused with elements of medieval Japanese heritage. I don't know their theme yet but the color scheme is like the Crimson Fists but with bone white trim and the right arm is bone white too, signifying their "purity" of being defenders of humanity, instead of the other chapters' crusading offensives. EDIT: I remember, my subconscious chose white and blue to be like the Scottish flag, my ancestry leading towards Clan Donald, my family being survivors of the Massacre of Glencoe. My Chapter Symbol will be similar to Clan Donald's symbol, a white right-hand gauntlet holding a spike above a crown,

Well if they are Russian why not give them a red colour scheme aside from Russias history with red, the Russian language has more colours for red so they can actually see more shades of red than other language speakers like... I have forgotten the name of the African tribe from mys psychology studies which can see far more greens than Westerns but has trouble with blues.. A split complimentary scheme with Red, Aqua and Pastel Lim for a good guy look, or monochromatic for the bad guy look with deep red as your primary colour, burgundy, pink, maroon and vibrant red as accents. Hope that helped!

I like the visuals and imagery. Reminds me of art class but with warhammer for context which is quite enjoyable BUT the audio makes these very hard to watch/listen. When the both of you are speaking softly it's quite nice but the spikes hurts quite a bit. I have to set the volume so low that I can just barely make out what you're saying most of the time and still the highs are louder than what I find comfortable listening to making me stop watching altogether. I'll preface saying that I obviously don't know what your recording setup looks like. Same room or different countries altogether. As there's quite a bit of editing and effort that goes in to these videos already I imagine that doing more audio mixing could make the production too long alternatively buying two separate microphones and setting up audio that way might also be out of budget for a smaller channel. Having two separate inputs of audio would make editing out interruptions a lot easier as well as that can be a bit grating as well. As much as I'd love to watch all your videos as it's a niche that, as an old art-student, I miss but as it is right now it's unfortunately neigh unbearable for me at least and there are plenty of miniature painting related channels that I would like but don't watch because of audio-issues.

Hm, I very much disagree with the core concept that all space marines are inherently "knights". Sure, in the pictures you show some of the most "knightly" marines and there are some chapters that embrace this aesthetic more than others, like Dark Angels or Grey *knights* but many of the rest doesn't. Then you mention things like shoulder pads, decoration and even hilariously helmets that are just super generic, vague and just true for armour in general and absolutely not exclusive to knights. They're just wearing power armour, is anything and everything that has armour and some decoration to be considered "knights", like T'au, Eldar or even Orkz? Take other franchises, are Halo Spartans knights? Star Wars clone/storm troopers? They fill all those criteria as well. Are marines with roman armour and details automatically more knights instead of gladiators because they have armour and you can't have armour without being a knight? So no, they absolutely will not be knights whatever you do, unless you theme them towards that design. You do not have to work around it. I also feel you go wrong a bit with the iconography (which also is not exclusive to knights). You have two skulls with horns but doesn't really mention why one is just "mutation" and the other is demonic and chaotic and all that making the interpretation vague. Also it's the symbol of the first horned skull is for the "Librarius" as in library not "Libarius" as mentioned several times. A bit nitpicky but if one's showing and teaching about these things I'd say it's relevant. Same with the colour theory, the completely black symbol speaks volumes as well and I feel it's not right to claim it doesn't. The lack of colour of symbols can convey just as much. If anything black is a "colour" most people would associate very closely with death. Just because you don't find much meaning in red, white and blue doesn't mean there isn't any, these countries have chosen their colours in their flag for a reason and it's borderline disrespectful to say it just doesn't have any meaning or is "overused". Just as with brighter colours > loyalist and darker > traitors is just so unfounded when there are so many, very well known examples of the opposite being true. For example how you brighten up the teal renegade marine which just makes him look more like the Thousand Sons or Alpha Legion both famous traitor legions (allegedly in the latter). I'm sorry I don't want to be so negative but I feel you reach a lot for your ideas, you come up with a concept that is highly subjective and portray it as if that's more general and objective without putting more thought into it.
@WhatareyouPaintingnow Жыл бұрын
You are allowed to disagree, however, the way you have structured your response, makes us believe that you won't be convinced by anything we say. @Willehable Жыл бұрын
@@WhatareyouPaintingnow Again, I am sorry but I feel you are the ones who are not making a tight argument, or any argument at all right now, nor respecting your audience's time and it is unfortunate you "agree to disagree" on questions and correction rather than address them. I pointed out some errors as they came up and some differing view points which you do not elaborate on. It was my hope that you could take some small time for your audience to explain these points. If you wish to do so I'll condense them here: 1: Why are space marines inherently "knights"? Why are the things you mention in the video not applicable to all kinds of armour? 2: Why is one horned skull representing mutation and one not? What's the difference and how does one achieve/avoid it? (Besides the fire which is separate) 3: What makes you say traitor legions are darker and loyalists brighter when there are so many objective examples of the contrary? Also, less importantly, why does black not convey anything or is associated with death but green is as mentioned regarding the Mortifactors?

So respectfully again, we will agree to disagree, if you cannot respect that, then you have proven my first point even more strongly. We hope you have a wonderful day

Why would you pronounce "Gesamt" as "Gestalt"? You're saying letters which aren't even there 😂
@WhatareyouPaintingnow Жыл бұрын
I was pronouncing it from memory from a video a 5-minute video from 11 years ago... We try and be a bit freeform in our discussions so I didn't look up the word let alone know how to spell it from memory :/

I love the topics and discussion but the ai art is a big turn off

We use AI art because their was no stock footage even remotely useable for Warhammer for the points we wanted to make. We are going to continue to use it and it will get better, because their will always be unique points we want to make for 5 seconds of screen time

We had another German say basically the same but I think we do it better in a later video, I think in Fallout, Basing and You video? So you can see if we flubbed it again ha ha 🥲
