Cheers Jimmy, I really appreciate that. I was starting to think most songwriters had no sense of humor! Glad you got some value from it.

First time I heard gotye on bbc radio 3 (I think) I new that was a number one hit. Whole song brings you in especially with the nursery rhyme melody and is very relatable.

Yeah, it's catchy a.f., really creates the mood with the melody.

Great info, took notes again! I can't imaging Axel Rose sitting down and doing all this stuff consciously though. "oh Slash, do you think we should add some unstable diatonic notes here?" I think talented people do this naturally to some degree and we have to theorise about it. Great job though - I think you'll have a lot of subscribers pretty soon!

totally agree. Funny to think of them having a conversation about assonance after their tenth bottle of jack daniels tho. glad you got some value from it.

Carpet Crawlers by Genesis. Such an absurd subject but the picture he paints is incredible. There's only one direction In the faces that I see It's upward to the ceiling Where the chamber's said to be Like the forest fight for sunlight That takes root in every tree They are pulled up by the magnet Believing they're free

Fun Fact about the phrase "Where do we go now" in Sweet Child: They wanted to add this breakdown part, but Axl was unsure of a direction and repeatedly sang to himself, “Where do we go now?” Which happened to fit the song so they went with it.

so can you make a song with only unstable tones? P.S what the heck with the dislike? P.P.S love the ending 😭
@SongWritersChopShop4 жыл бұрын
Cheers cazcazoo. I think using a mix of stable and unstable tone to support the emotion of your song would be more effective. It's one of those things where you let your ears guide you until you hit that 'ah ha' moment.
