Recently, I was emailing back and forth with a current student in the Better Sleep Community (BSC) and, with his permission, I wanted to share some of what we discussed.
In this week’s video, I read out part of his email and show how he is applying the tools learned in the Better Sleep Community to create better sleep for himself.
Here is an excerpt of his email:
I did follow up with my doctor about my chest discomfort and some shortness of breath. For context around 2014, I experienced something similar and found out that it was some form of rare asthma that I may have. Put me on a long-term steroid inhaler and it went away but those 6 months sucked (bedridden). I came out of that medical thing, so I can certainly deal with this.
Below are a few points I want to focus on so you can see how he will be able to achieve better sleep. I discuss these in more depth in my video.
1. We celebrated that he used a resource. In the BSC, we learn the difference between a coping mechanism and a resource. He turned to his doctor as one of his resources. When he consulted his doctor about his symptoms, he took control of his experience by ensuring there was nothing medically wrong with him. With that information, we can now do the deeper work using Tapping.
2. He is realizing that what he is currently experiencing is similar to an event in his past. Recalling this event brought up a lot of fear because his asthma had made breathing difficult and left him bedridden. See the similarities? Now that he knows there is nothing physically wrong with him, we can apply our tools to help transform his fear.
3. He writes “I came out of that medical thing, so I can certainly deal with this”. There is so much power in such a statement. In the BSC, we learn to differentiate between a limiting belief and an empowering belief, so we can get to the root cause of what might be preventing us from sleeping well.
This email was such a gold nugget in how it helped us to understand why his body is struggling with sleep because of previous health issues that are energetically imprinted in his body/nervous system. The good news is that this hurdle can be overcome with the right tools.
We are getting closer to discovering the root cause of his sleep issues.
I am so grateful to be able to facilitate this learning for him. It makes my heart happy.
