In this Episode, I have documented in detail how I converted a shiny white styrene model of a barge into a properly weathered old vessel. First, I painted using airbrush and a paintbrush, then I started my weathering using variety of materials, tools and techniques. The highlight of the model is definitely the ultra realistic 3 dimensional rust - NOT 'realistic' rust, rather REAL corrosion.

I needed a barge for my layout, but I thought why not make it a little special for my KZbin followers! So, I thought why not build an N Scale model with fine scale standards? Why not try to see what's the best I can do building something from absolute scratch? Then I thought, why just end there - let's document every little detail of the build so that it can help others as a good reference.

Yeah yeah, of course she is! She tried stealing my show for the Episode 3 premier too as you can find out in the live chat. I'm glad that you liked it. Believe it or not, her commentary was actually real. I was doing the voice over and she kept adding her thoughts during the takes sitting behind me. I have weathered my railway box car with acrylic paint, do i have to overcoat with varnish or not . It is the varnish i seem to struggle with ?

Yes. There are two uses of varnish - one is to give you the required finish (gloss vs. matt, for an example), second is to protect the surface during handling. I can recommend Testors spray lacquer as a first step as it is easy to use. Hope this helps. :)
