I am a composer that often uses SO to work out my ideas in loop record (multiple takes). After I comp my takes, I’ll move on to the next section and repeat the process. Since this process is to just work out ideas as opposed to performing, I like to then create sheet music, which I will then practice and finally perform/record. Joe is right. This is a great feature!

For a little added fun, you can take an audio track (clean) and run it through melodyne and use the save as midi function. Then you can important that midi file back into your session and *bam* you’ve just notated your demo tracks for other band members/session players

That’s helpful. Thank you. I hope I can remember this later. Learning all this over time in short intervals is my only option right now so it’s slow molasses learning with work and taking care of family in between but then I forget shortcuts like this.

@@robertlucas9867 trust me, I know it. Recording and performing stopped being enough so I had to get a full time to keep the bills paid and, it’s a very easy slide into doing less and less production

I’m glad you showed this. I was confused on how to enter the bar for long rest and all I have to do is click on single page and it filled in 58 measures of rest for you is helpful. Now I don’t have to fill in every measure with rests. I’m still struggling with repeats unfortunately. I’m used to having repeats and the bar rest like you showed to shorting the amount of pages. I did save this in a playlist but Studio One has so much it’s easy to forget and get lost. I keep forgetting easy functions.

Do a quick video on using this to play a guitar part, with single note runs, power chords, and full chords. Demonstrate how to then go into the notation, set it to tablature, and edit it to be the correct fingering please!

Presonus makes a lot of the basic functionality, bread and butter things we do every day and a little bit more, so easy for us. Coming from another DAW doing the same kinda thing, but with a bit more buttons to click and looking around.

Ok, but can I save it as an XML project in order to put it to some notation program like Musescore or Dorico? 😊

Hey I really like the idea of this feature and I want to use it a lot more in the future! But there are a few bugs: -the velocities of playback get lost when working with dynamics in the sheet music for some reason. - triplet sixteenth notes are not transferred correctly from notation to MIDI - S1 interprets sixteenth note triplets as 2x 32nd notes +16th for some reason. -The other way around is also slightly bugged. -changes to notation sometimes randomly get reversed when changing a single note in the midi editor. Hope you can fix these! Best, Emanuel

Joe's content is always helpful. Thanks!.. Presonus however can be quite frustrating. I just upgraded to Studio One 6 PRO, but no PSO Classical!?!? Between S1 5 and S1 6, thats close to $500 investment in their top-tier DAW, which I love. Why must I invest in S1 PLUS?!? I dont need the social networking, just quality tools. There are not nearly as quality sounding orchestra instruments in the current available Presence instruments as the PSO Orchestra. $450+ but make a customer pay even more for the subscription is.. without hesitation.. total BS! Love Joe tho.

it is also possible to see tabs for guitar or bass, you just have to use the menu on the score view.

Interesting demo but for a piano player, it is important to mention there is an option to get 2 systems, one for G key and one for F key. It would be interesting to make of demo of this option.
@JeanLoupRSmith9 ай бұрын
Did you mean G clef and F clef, as in the grand staff with treble and bass staves? With keys you can have anything you want as a key, it's quite easy to define in the editor in Studio One

If you compare the midi note view at the beginning to the written part, it looks like it did transpose it properly for a Bb Clarinet.

Is there a way to create the sheet music from an audio track or just virtual instruments?
@gillianbanemusic5 ай бұрын
You have to make it a midi track first. You can use Melodyne to extract the midi information out of audio and then drag and drop the audio track to an instrument track. It's super easy and super quick!
@theguitarschoollosangeles70649 ай бұрын
I am assuming that I can't do the same with an audio recording as opposed to an instrument? So I can't record an acoustic guitar and see the score right???
@JeanLoupRSmith9 ай бұрын
You can try to transform your audio recording to Midi and see what you get. Studio One 6.5 even has improved tools for guitarists in the score view, which includes tablature (though I've not tried it yet)

@JeanLoupRSmith9 ай бұрын
In the editor in Studio one, in the score view, if you select the Track tab it will have a dropdown menu labelled "Apply Staff Preset" where you can select which instrument to map and if your instrument is a transposing instrument like a Bb Clarinet then when you play a C it will be written as a D and so on
