A real pro tip, gentlemen: talk about your shared environment. That's one thing you have in common, for sure. Doesn't matter if you're in school, at a wedding or in a bar. If you talk about travel or video games, there's a chance you won't hit at all, might even make the other person uncomfortable if you don't notice that they aren't too keen on the subject of your choice. For example, if you talked with me about travel a couple years back, I'd feel pretty shitty about it, since back then I haven't really traveled anywhere ever, only now I've been on a few trips I could talk about. That being said, don't be afraid to be very specific in the things you say, it might give another person an anchor for a conversation as well. Say you tell me how you bought your younger cousin a present recently vs you tell me how you bought a LEGO set for your younger cousin Daniel as a present for his 12th birthday. Suddenly I might talk about LEGO or how I also have a younger cousin named Daniel, or about children in general, or birthdays, birthday parties and birthday presents - yes, it sounds like boring and irrelevant information, but unless you go on and on about it for too long then it isn't. You can bring up any subject as long as you know when to stop talking about it, if you get no reciprocation (in form of talking back or at least asking curious questions) after a minute or two then it's best you switch subject. If you wanna learn more about small talk in general, I'd recommend The Serious Business of Small Talk by Carol A. Fleming. For me, it helped me understand the objective of small talk and it's importance, meaning I was able to more naturally develop my small talk instead of going online to look up questions that you can ask to get to know a person. By no means am I an expert in small talk, but I'm no longer completely helpless if my friends left me for a few minutes with a person I don't know, which I very distinctly remember being on my prom night when I was left to stand awkwardly with someone I only knew by name...
what do you mean talk about your shared environment?

“ I see you’re drinking 1%. Is that ’cause you think you’re fat? ‘Cause you’re not. You could totally be drinking whole if you wanted to” usually works for me

most of the time, it comes to your inner true confidence and accepting things as they are, stop trying to put a front and just enjoy talking and listening to her

Hey Tripp, could you start putting summaries in the description please? It helps to screenshot something I can look through to jog my memory occasionally.

what if I genuinely not interested in topics like "how did you meet?", "what's cool to do in Spain", "what's that like?" etc? Like, you actually like the person yet for some reasons these questions don't interest you.

11:10 But don't linger on Spain. Spain is the key to a more personal conversation. Why did she choose Spain? Preferences, ancestry? Maybe she wanted to leave the US for a while. Why? Etcetera. But don't go on about the Spain, because the conversation remains impersonal.
