The idea of “backup” could be easily solved with a modifier called “edit poly” that we can find in 3Ds Max. Basically it is just an “layer” that you can modify the model in edit mode without needing to apply all the modifiers. Seems nothing, but it is really powerful! It could be an excellent feature to implement in Blender for all those people that loves modeling with modifiers.
@GlebAlexandrov4 жыл бұрын
That's definitely one of the possible solutions, I agree.

I agree I miss that Edit Poly modifier so much switching over to Blender.
@johannes-vollmer4 жыл бұрын
What exactly happened when you change a parameter in the modifier stack? Will it reset the manual modifications?
@1DInciner4 жыл бұрын
The problem of edit poly modifier is that it requires special mesh representation, basically, separate mesh engine, which is limited, but parametric. That's why there are "editable mesh" and "edit poly" mesh representations in 3dsmax.
@mattli9114 жыл бұрын
@@1DInciner Also Edit Poly in Max can be very finicky or risky in some cases. I've had it blow up on me too many times now. If you navigate stack wrong or even re-opening a file sometimes. But I agree, I really would love to see this thing in Blender. But NOT like max , where we have like 5 different mesh types and all different hotkeys / features, which is super annoying. Edit Mesh, Edit Poly, Editable Mesh, Editable Poly, and some other ones.

No it hasn't.... you don't even know how to use bevels correctly... every bevel you ever apply is a destructive one. I've never seen you use a vertex groups for bevels or percented bevels.
@lupat9955 Жыл бұрын
didnt knew the relax trick! very nice! personnaly, what is mostly missing for me is groups "selections" in the bevel modifier., for exemple, you mod something, but you never really sure of its bevel edges when you start, because, while reevaluate, everything, proportions changes and so edges too, superposing bevel groups mean that eich bevels fits overlapping.. segments and amount, but this way wld be really more convenient for adjusting ..

In Blender 3.3, the "Profile" slider used at 7:10 doesn't seem to work as shown. Anyone know why or have a workaround? I'm assuming it's the slider now called "Shape," which works as described if you run it on say, a single edge of a cube, but not when it has all these intersections. I tried messing with Profile Type as well, no results there either. Any help appreciated!

What hotkeys did you use at 7:49 for dissolving?
@KiR_3d4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Gleb! IMO, Blender definitely need an extra "Edit" mode. a CAM/CAD mode where it will represent a model as a set of math formulas with a modelling hierarchy tree. So it will be presented in a dynamic mesh resolution. After you finish, a model can be set freeze = a new mesh that you've wanted. I think that it can be possible for the current core if it supports "dynamic arrays" for meshes. There is a Dynamic Sculpt mode, so I guess it's "yes" :)

Because CAD is not "used" to be unwrapped or subdivided, is used for manifacturing and production, is like trying to compare a saw with an hammer. For aestetic enginerring surfaces you should look into CAS, but that's another branch on its own
