Jennifer, I have had birds all my life, in fact for a long time I did pet bird rescues for people from our near by base, who were going overseas and couldnt take their pet birds with them. I kept them until they came home, or if they didnt come home, the bird had a home with me. I did that for 25 years...I LOVE LOVE LOVE birds! So this tutorial is right up my alley cause they are adorable!

Here’s what Indid to avoid big holes: when increasing put the firstbstitch in the front loop and the second stitch in the back loop of the stitch you increasing in. When decreasing the three stitches to one stitch: pull up the first loop from the front loop of the first stitch, the second loop from the back loop of the next stitch and the third loop from the front loop of the last of the three stitches , then yarn over and pull through…

I love your chicken. I don’t like doing amigurumi because it hurts my hands but I am going to deal with it and make a chicken. I prefer to crochet like you. I don’t take it so seriously and think that it has to all be “by the book”. It’s ok to do things your way and not stress to achieve perfection. Even though I have struggled with being a perfectionist throughout my life, I have worked hard to get past that. So one of my new favorite quotes to remind myself of is “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good enough “.

I love that novelty yarn as a chicken. Cute! The “fluff” on top of the chicken’s head is called a comb. A rooster’s comb will be larger than the hen’s.

Lion Brand has a Faux Feathers yarn in their clearance section. It comes in light blue, red, cade au lait, lilac and teal. 85 yds for $4.79. The red and Cafe au lait look like real chicken colors. Thought you'd like to know. It really looks like feathers.

Thank you for the tutorial Jen, I’m going to try and make a turkey, our Thanksgiving here is October 9th so I need to hurry lol. It gave me a use for this type of yarn though because I always wondered how the heck you would use this for something! I do not buy those bags of fluff too expensive, I buy a new bed pillow from Walmart for $5 and use that stuffing in there lol.

Jennifer there's a tool that helps get those eyes on - you can also use a wooden spool of thread to press them on - sometimes I put my scissors into the holder to stretch it out a little & yes at times I use my teeth !! 💕💕
