As someone who was a beginner crocheter not but mere year ago and took the leap into an adventurous beginner/intermediate project, I want to encourage you to jump out of the comfort zone and challenge yourself. You will be glad you did. If you are truly frightened of the leap, because lets face it, yarn is expensive, I recommend finding a less expensive but still quality yarn to run some practice on the pattern with. Then you will feel more confident when you get to the really good stuff! You can do it. I have faith in you. Happy crocheting!

@@peggshelor9656 thank you for the encouraging words! Yes, I'm also one of those who jumps in at the deep end when I take on new hobbies. To be fair, I'm crocheting a hat at the moment (my first crochet project!) that I would probably classify as intermediate given the number of very complex stitches, but that one has a video showing each step, which made it feel less daunting. I suppose it's the thought of doing it without the figurative hand holding that makes me a bit more cautious, but I do love a challenge. (Just need to finish my current challenge of doing a PhD before I take on any others haha) Thanks again! I hope you have a blessed day!

Hi there, I'm happy to help. The Wilona shawl uses our Amal Fingering yarn and is crocheted with a US size G (4.25 mm) hook. The Amal Fingering is a blend of 60% Baby Alpaca, 20% Linen, and 20% Mulberry Silk and provides 438 yards (400 m) in each 3.5 oz (100 g) skein. Hi, when you gave the example of a shell stitch for the shawl you said to use five treble crochets. I bought the pattern so I had a written form of it and it states that there should be six treble crochets can you clear the discrepancy up for me? I checked the chart to double-check and it shows that there are six treble crochets in the one stitch but five in the subsequent shell etc...

Hi Diane, both are correct, the tutorial and the written instructions. A shell stitch consists of 5 treble crochets in general, however, at the beginning and end of each row using the shell stitch the last and first shell will be made out of 6 trebles, as you can see from the chart and the written pattern. This is needed to grow the triangle shawl and keep it symmetrical. I also wanted to make sure that you're using the newest version of the written pattern. There were 2 errata added since release (last one on 1.26.22). If you downloaded the pattern recently you should be fine. This is amazing! My neighbor/close friend's son is getting married next year. I want.to make this shawl but need to give it a wow wedding vibe. Pearls!!! How would you suggest adding them? Hand sew with linen thread? Or is there an easier way?? 🤔

Beautiful shawl. I have a question. Why are all your projects done in such thin yarn? I have arthritis and can’t use such lightweight yarn. But I keep saving the patterns I like anyway lol. Thanks Gloria
