After watching numerous videos on c-to-c I think I finally get it! Thanks. 😊 Although, interesting note: I’ve now seen this done with 5, 6, & 7 starting chains!

Chaining 5,6 or 7 chains all work🎃 I just prefer the 5 because the spaces between tiles are smaller and the picture is crisp

Found a way to make this into a rectangle instead of a square! When you get the width of the rectangle, you increase on one side and decrease on the other! So it just builds upward instead of diagonally (currently doing this method to make a scarf)

Thank you for this! Every other tutorial started with 6 and it just didnt look right to me. 5 looks so much tighter and nicer.

This is such a great and in depth tutorial! I've watched other tutorials on corner to corner and they always start with a chain 6 when using double crochet stitches and a chain 5 when using half double crochet stitches. This was a nice mix up and I think I like it the best! Edited to add: 🎃

All of those starting chains totally work I just prefer the spaces between the stitches to be smaller when making a picture🎃

I'm sorry to bother but is there a reason when we decrease you always say that we have 2 dcs but we have 3dcs you're just skipping the last one, do we need to skip the last one or were you just confused?🙈
