Hi friends! This video shows you how to crochet the easy granny triangle which can be turned into a scarf, wrap or shawl. You can even make it small enough to make a bunting. If you're comfortable with double crochet, it's super simple once you get through the third row.
Here's the written pattern:
Granny Triangle Written Pattern:
Ch 4-5, sl st to join ends to make a circle
Row 1 Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc stitch), 2 dc into circle, ch 2, 3 dc into circle
Row 2 Ch 3, turn. 2dc into the first st. 3dc, ch 2, 3dc in middle ch2 space. Into last stitch of row (the ch 3 from previous row), make 3 dc.
Row 3 Ch 3, turn. 2dc into first st, 3dc in next space (this is the space created between groups of 3dc), then (3dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in top ch sp, 3dc in next space, 3 dc in top of last stitch of row.
Repeat row 3 for entire pattern (working 3dc in each space across to middle point) making your triangle as large or small as you'd like.
Enjoy!

Thank you for the great tutorial. One thing. I’ve never seen the 3 stitches done down the chain 3 turning chain. Very interesting. It sure keeps the stitches secure. I’m going to watch again to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me❤

I’ve been a newsletter subscriber of yours for quite some time and always loved looking at your new patterns while attempting to learn to knit and crochet. I realise how daft it is now, but I didn’t even know you had a KZbin page! I’m definitely a visual learner, so this is really helpful and I appreciate the time you take to give us knitters and hookers (wordplay - definitely talking about crocheters and their hooks! 😂) free patterns and tutorials. It’s great for me because your patterns aren’t over complicated, which is perfect as I hate counting stitches and rows, and I much prefer to knit or crochet without thinking too much about it! Thanks so much! Xx

This was very helpful and exactly what I needed! For those who say she is going too fast, please check out some other videos for showing how to do the stitches. This video was specifically to show how you build up the stitches to make the triangle. I had not quite understood it from the patterns and this made sense to see it build like this. If you aren’t familiar enough with doing double crochet or granny stitch, definitely find a different video. :-)

this is how to slow down a video, for those of us that are complete beginners. Bottom line: there are times when it would be great to see a video in slow motion. KZbin offers this option, but it's not exactly out in plain sight. To adjust playback speed if you're using the Chrome browser, click the Settings icon in the lower-right corner of the playback window, then click the Speed selector

An interesting tutorial. You go too fast to show a beginner what to properly do, and even when slowed down, you do not show them clearly where they need to put the hook into the stitches. I would say this is a video for someone who already knows a little about how to do this stitch, but not for someone completely new to this.

Hi. A very nice, easy stitch for a summer shawl. However as others have mentioned, you are rather quick and don’t explain how turning the work after the chain 3 starts off the next row. The other thing is that, coming from the UK, our stitches are differently named so it would be useful if you could say what the stitch is in the US and also in the U.K. Cheers

She goes quickly but clearly tells you what she is doing... there is also a feature on KZbin that allows you to slow down the video. When you move your mouse over the video, there is a bar that pops up at the bottom (where you adjust volume, play/pause, skip forward/back). Click the cog at the bottom right. Go to "speed" and pick from either 0.75, 0.5, or 0.25 to make it slower. Thanks for the video, Mama In A Stitch.
