I'm a grandmother who followed/used many of my mother's Godly wisdom of wise conversations. Everyone has his/her own style/manner, way of existing, doing things. If we were cloned, or allowed others to control our very existence, who then would we be? If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything, move on, one doesn't have to watch if you take issue with one being themselves!!!!! That's what I love about the Tube, from watching since 2009 there are many, many channels/forums. You don't have to watch what you don't like/want. Thanks for the tutorial, sharing what you love!!!!!

Thank you for this tutorial for the moss stitch. I especially like that you have no loud annoying music playing during the instruction!! I have a pattern for a "Jane Throw" that uses the moss stitch, but I couldn't quite figure out where the chain space actually was (pattern uses 6 weight (thick) yarn.) The instructor's fingers were kind of blocking the stitches. Anyways videos are great! Thanks again!!

Thank you for this excellent tutorial. Quick question - I’ve been trying to work a flat circle in this stitch, but can’t figure out the increases. Do you know of any linen stitch in the round tutorials? All the ones I’m seeing are they other type of “in the round”, where the fabric forms a tube or cylinder, rather than a flat circle. I know this video is several years old, so fingers crossed that someone is still listening! Thank you 😊

Hello, Tamara! Thank you so much for these wealth-of-information videos. You are truly a blessing! I need your help with this moss stitch. I'm crocheting a sweater jacket that has the moss stitch for its main pattern stitch. I was doing OK until the pattern calls for decreased stitches in forming the neck. I cannot find a single video nor any written instructions on line nor anywhere else that shows how to decrease moss stitches. Please let me know how to decrease the moss stitches, and so the decreases can look decent. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Once again, you're a blessing.
@mooglyblog7 жыл бұрын
Hello Lynn! :) Thank you! There are a couple ways you can decrease with the Moss stitch, and you'll have to decide which way works best for your project. 1. You can sl st in the first few sts/chain spaces and start crocheting however many stitches in as indicated for the decreases at the beginning of the row, and just leave the last st(s) unworked for the decreases at the end of the row. 2. You can ch 1 and work a sc2tog in the first st and ch-1 sp when the decrease is at the beginning of the rows, and the same at the end (in the last ch-1 sp and sc st). The first option may be easiest if you have to decrease by more than one st per row. I hope that helps!

@tamarairene9 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it is, though I haven't sat down to write out a pattern using it that way. It would be tricky - I would think you'd need to decrease on the ends if in rows, or by twos if in the round.

When I start in the 4th ch, I end up with a big hole at the beginning, but if I continue as directed, there are no other big holes like that. What am I doing wrong? And yep, I know how to count chains from the hook.
@mooglyblog6 жыл бұрын
When you come back for the 2nd row, the last st of Row 2 will be in that ch-3 sp, which fills it up. You can also try making the last 3 chs (that you end up skipping) tighter than the rest of the chains to snug it up a bit. :)

The way you crochet is very strange. It looks comfy though. I just started crocheting about 3 months ago so I haven't seen that many techniques. When I chain stitch I get a V shape facing me and the bump is facing away. But you get the bump facing you somehow. I'm going to give your technique a try.

As long as you like the stitches you get, it's all good! Congrats on learning to crochet! You might enjoy this post: www.mooglyblog.com/how-you-hold-your-hook-and-yarn-the-results/

@Inspector Steve, I believe Tamara uses the “Back Hump” when coming back on Row 1. I find it’s easier to catch the Hump, keeping the chain straight. I also makes a rather nice “V” at the bottom of your fabric, which again is nice if you want to add a border or edging to your project. The only time I don’t use that technique if if I’m making a Starting Foundation Row (sometimes referred to as Chainless Foundation Row, or FSC, FHDC, FDC, etc) which is an alternative to chaining and working stitches back across your initial chain. Instead the base chain is built right into the stitches thus eliminating the need to make a chain row and a row 1. This method saves a bunch of time, especially for a blanket or something that has a billion chains. There is also less chance of miscounting. I cant tell you how many times I thought I chained the correct number, completed Row 1, to then realize somehow I was short on my chains. This eliminates that problem. Its a nice stretchy yet sturdy stitch. There are some really terrific tutorial out there, might seem tricky at first but honestly it’s not and totally worth checking out. Have fun and good luck on your crocheting adventures! 🧶
