This is a pattern I really like. It has visual interest without being frilly, and it's something a guy can crochet & wear. I've watched just about every basket weave crochet video I could find, including a 1 x 1 version, and for me yours is about the clearest and best I've seen. I can only think of one other creator whose stitches came off the hook so evenly and precisely! Thanks for the beautiful stitches and great video!

Oh, great question! Not one that is easy to answer. I'd make a swatch using the yarn and crochet hook you would like to make the project with. Then, from that swatch you will be able to figure out how many chains and stitches you will need to begin with, how many rows you will need to make, and even approximately how much yarn you will need to complete the project. To learn how to get all that information from a swatch, check out my Swatch Series here on KZbin. Here's a link to it: kzbin.info/aero/PL6HRmAfbRXTUBW5tlXJI69Ga2sUmKFBf_

I’ll add it to my tutorial list though I cannot promise you when I’ll be able to get that tutorial out. Hi Tiffany, this is a great tutorial it helped me understand the formula for this stitch. I started watching because I was looking for a different pattern to make 8” squares. I’m working on squares to make blankets for Project Linus. I used C2C to make some squares but I wanted a little variation in the squares. Using your formula I kept coming up with 7” squares. Putting my thinking cap on and using your break down I figured out how to make them 8”. I basically used your numbers but added 2 stitches. Then at beginning and end of each row I did 2 DC. (Turning ch and DC) it gave me the extra inch. Now I’m hoping to find 1 more 8” pattern same density. Thanks so much any suggestions welcome

Hello Tiffany, praying to find you well. I know this is an old video but praying to find an answer…using your 6+5+2 for the 3 blocks…if I’m starting with a chainless foundation would I skip the +2 or still keep the same count
@CrochetWithTiffany Жыл бұрын
GREAT question! I think you just drop that last + 2 because that would be your "turning chain". I haven't played with chainless foundations but I do know you have to be careful with such things as watching the stitch count. Great Job! 😊❤️🧶

Love this! I like to crochet hats bottom up, starting with 2 inches of ribbing and joining to crochet the body of the hat in the round. Would this stitch work in the round? Or does it have to be crocheted flat? Either way, what is the correct way to decrease for the crown?
@CrochetWithTiffany3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary! Oh you could absolutely use this as the bottom of a beanie! To decrease from the crown I would take the number of stitches and divide that number by 4. (Or rounded 4) then decrease by that number and decrease the number each row thereafter until it is a small enough circle. Then weave through the last few stitches and synch them together. I hope that helps. 😊❤️🧶

@CrochetWithTiffany2 жыл бұрын
Hi Heather. I don't think you could add any more width to the project aside from working up another piece of work and joining the two together. OR if you are making a blanket you could always make a really thick blanket border to help elongate the width dimension. 😊🧡🧶

@CrochetWithTiffany Жыл бұрын
That is a great question Andrea. There should be 2 rows of posts one way and then 2 rows of posts switched. This pattern has a 4 row repeat pattern. Once you know that it might help you to count how many rows you have. 😊❤️🧶

@daniellesevolution10 ай бұрын
I tried doing the 2x2 and maybe it should be multiples of 4 plus 4 plus 2. Instead of 5… cuz I couldn’t get it right with that. Unless I’m doing something wrong, I’m kinda new. 😅
@CrochetWithTiffany10 ай бұрын
Totally get it. However you can get it to work, go with that! I was following directions from a book but sometimes that can be interpreted different ways. 😊
@sunnywahwassuck22385 ай бұрын
I had a hard time too, I’m also doing the 2x2, but what I found out is when you’re doing your multiples of 4, make 4 less chains in the base chain than what you want your end length to be. I wanted 12 chains, so I did 8, then when you skip those 3 base chain stitches at the beginning of your first row and go into the 4th stitch, you will have your 1st double crochet out of those three, leaving 4 extra stitches on the base chain because you chained the additional 5+2, and when you skip the first 3 to begin the row, you’re negating the extra 2, and 1 stitch out of the extra 5 (5-1=4) leaving you with 4. So if I want 12, I do 8 chains (4x2) then +5, +2, and -3 when I turn my work to start my first row, so (7-3=4) and I’ll have 12 total stitches to work. Sorry if that was super confusing, it’s hard to explain, feel free to reply and I can try to word my answer differently. Hope this helps! 😊
