I know this is an old video, but I'm just finding it. My son has wanted an authentic Dr Who scarf, but I can hardly knit to save my life and he wants the 20 foot....yes, a 20 foot scarf! I think I've found the perfect solution and am beside myself in excitement. I tend to do a lot of my scarves and blanket squares in a back loop only stitch so this might be a bit easier for me to learn. Thank you so much!

Well guess what I'm actually working on right now!!! A scarf using this stitch pattern, but it has a little tweak so the edges don't roll. If you'd like to send me an email, I'll give you the tip. acrochetedsimplicity@gmail.com

I did what you say by doing it loosely but still had trouble getting my hook in the stitches like you said. So I think it depends on the hook itself the hook end because I know you can get either the round end hooks which I've got which I always have trouble with at times. And there is also the pointy end hooks. The reason I was watching this is because I want to try & convert knitting pattern that I have to crocheting which I can do knitting as well as crocheting, but I have never converted any of my patterns that I got before.

Yes, I agree. The brand of hook can also make a difference!

Amazing pattern stitch ... I'm a knitter and crocheter... this looks like the garter stitch. How can you correct .. if you forget what row your doing? Would you suggest putting a marking in different color for the front stitch and back stitch??
@acrochetedsimplicity5 жыл бұрын
Using stitch markers is a great idea! I actually have a few custom stitch markers that a friend made me that say "right side" or "wrong side" and they're great!

Hi Jennifer - thanks for posting this. As far as stitch count, if I want to change a pattern from single crochet to this garter stitch patter would I use the same number of stitches? The pattern I am thinking of is the Dr Who scarf typically done in crochet using single crochet but I think this crochet garter stitch will be better and give a nicer squishier fabric. Thoughts?

Hi Chelin~ If you click on "See More" above (the description of the video), you'll find the link to my website where the instructions for the dishcloth are posted and I also have a couple free patterns that use this technique. :)

You say you don't know how to knit, but watching you crochet I would have thought you were a knitter because that is how knitters use their left hand to put the yarn on the needle.
