I totally feel you about buying it on sale! When I picked mine up JoAnn was having a great sale and I got two skeins for $13!! I ended up going back for more because I'm designing a woman's sweater with it. Didn't think I would like the velvet yarn but I love it!

I don’t quite understand, after you get past the thumb hole how many stitches go around?

Once you are done with the thumb you end up with the same number of stitches you had after the cuff before you started thumb shaping.

The rounds should begin at the ch-1 that closed the thumb hole.

I have very small hands for an adult, hence wanting to make my own mittens. How should I change the pattern to fit a smaller sized hand?

Figure out how many sts around your mitten needs to be to fit your hand, then start with that number after the ribbing. The thumb could still be worked the same, or if it's too big you can reduce how many times you increase.

I'll need many scans..I have Teal and Black. & still need more,. Can I use a Whole different yarn to add color and Depth in sections..(swaping maybe so many lines of each?.. And WHAT'S EASIER to Work with?? Crochet or Knitting.😥(especially with the Velvet yar... I have circular knit needles. (I tend to drop stitches & I DON'T Know WHY? I TRY and be careful.. Crochet is easier to go back.or undue... Knitting can be impossible to fix a problem.. Sorry that's a lot to ask.. Hugs and Thanks again! 😊

You can change colors any time you like! I did a pair of colorblock mittens and I really love them. I find crocheting a lot easier than knitting because you only have one stitch that is "live" at a time, so it is definitely easier to fix mistakes. I do both and enjoy them, but I enjoy crochet more.

This is a very easy tutorial, and my mittens look lovely! My only complaint is about the yarn. The cuff stretches out easily and doesn't return to it's original size, so my cuff is very loose now. Next time I'll try making the cuff smaller to compensate.

Its beautiful yarn. Have you tried washing them? I made an sweater and washed it and had about every 4th or 5 th stitch get all loopy!! Never in 45 yrs have I had that happen through the entire sweater. I used hdc. I have about 16 more skeins so I'm not going to give up, but am going to try sc and maybe DC cause it has some good twists to hold it in place. Anyone else tried washing this yarn?.this yarn would feel so awesome for mittens, I'm going to try this pattern

Oh wow!! I have not washed mine yet. I've made a few things with velvet and haven't washed any of them. I think I'll make a swatch and wash it to see what happens.

@@lovelifeyarn I suggest a swatch with rows of all one type of stitch per row, sc, hdc,dc.to see if sc or dc would be more stable. Hd' s 3rd loop is looser by going through all 3 and that is the culprit in my case . It would probably survived perfectly if I would have hand washed and dried it flat but I should have washed and dried a swatch. It was a lesson I won't forget. Nor eill I be to lazy with the next unfamiliar yarn I work with.

Hi! So I don't like to be negative, I only try to bring back feedback to anyone I watch. Constructive Criticism from my end, and I hope I don't offend you! I'm having a really difficult time following along to the pattern, you don't talk often which makes it harder to know what you are doing. Even the pattern is not descriptive enough so that I can try and understand what I am not getting from the video. I'm gonna keep following along to see how it ends up, so I will keep you updated.
