Thanks! I've been crocheting for almost 15 years and just recently saw this on Pinterest. I make a lot of baby blankets so this will really be an incredible way to personalize each one! Thanks again!

This was such a HUGE help to me. I'm working on a blanket for my stepdad and he wants his initials on the finished piece and this stitch was so easy to do and your directions were easy to follow.

Thank you for uploading this video, it's a much more easy (and forgiving) solution to adding letters than trying to work them into the base. My question is, what do you do with the strings at the end of the letter lines?
@crochetnmore10 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. Work or sew the yarn ends back into the same color stitches. I weave them throughout the letters using a yarn needle.
@AmberLUVSBTR9 жыл бұрын

The slanted shell patterns looks like it would work. Try working the stitches only into the loops along the fronts of the stitches instead of through the entire fabric. Just work in the direction you need to in order to form your letters.

@crochetnmore12 жыл бұрын
It works well on a single crochet fabric... if the afghan is solid (no holes) you may be able to incorporate this method.
@melodymaben59174 жыл бұрын
Can this be done on a double crochet project ?
@crochetnmore4 жыл бұрын
You can use this method on double crochet or any other flat crocheted surface. However, I think it's easier to form the letters on a single crocheted fabric.

Can you use floss thread to do letters.
@crochetnmore10 жыл бұрын
You can use any type of yarn, thread or floss. Keep in mind that thicker strands tend to show up better. If you want to use thinner materials... try using multiple strands and experiment to get the look you want.

Good video, but I'm not sure why you wouldn't show how to finish it, i.e. Show us how to handle the ends. . .
@crochetnmore10 жыл бұрын
Ends are weaved in as with any crochet project... working/sewing the yarn ends back into the same color stitches. You can weave in the ends using your crochet hook or a yarn needle.

do you have a video on the rest of the alphabet? i'm trying to make a "b" and i'm having a problem with the curves?
@crochetnmore10 жыл бұрын
No, this method is a "free hand" type of crochet. Letters will vary from one crocheter to another.

Thanks for sharing! could this work on double crochet or does it need to be single crochet?

So did you make this blanket by doing a single crochet? And what if you wanted to make the letters thicker?
@crochetnmore10 жыл бұрын
Yes... you could use multiple strands of yarn to make thicker letters.

Not T's, but G's & B's? Or lower case letters?

@gothicpunk14338 жыл бұрын
could this work on the double crochet blanket I am making? I want to add a phrase. Cross stitching it seems too messy.
@crochetnmore8 жыл бұрын
I believe this method will work on any crocheted fabric. Plan ahead... (1) count the number of letters you need to add and allow spaces between words; (2) count how many stitches are in the space you plan to write in and plan accordingly.
@gothicpunk14338 жыл бұрын
Okay. Thank you so much! Appreciate it :)
@huskergirl19809 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I have been looking for a video like this and finally found one. I have one question, how do you know how much yarn you will need per letter? I know it depends on size
@crochetnmore9 жыл бұрын
huskergirl1980 You're welcome. These letters shouldn't take very much yarn at all. Letter size, as well as how many letters you need to make, will definitely be a factor in determining how much yarn you will need. Sorry, but there's no way for me to determine each person's individual yarn amounts.

It is worked the same as a foundation chain... you just insert the hook into the fabric each time as you make each chain.

@ehamiltoner9 жыл бұрын
Can you help me make an R plz
@crochetnmore9 жыл бұрын
+Erica Hamilton Since this is a "freeform" style of crochet, everyone will make their letters differently. A fairly simple way to add the letter "R" would be to make a stencil. Pin the stencil in the position where you want the letter and crochet inside the stencil as I did on the video.
