Not bad acting-wise but I felt uninformed about what was happening. And your right about the mama thing. It was too much of a background thing. And not so much like she was trying to get her attention like I think she was.

I thought she did great, I could see she was sorta crying
@luisvelez80962 жыл бұрын
She did good. I would say that something she can improve on is for when she's saying "Momma" multiple times, she can try and make each of those "Mommas" different in the way she says it. Just to add more coloring. Other than that it was pretty good.

To preface: I'm not an actor at all, i just like practicing these kinds of things because it's fun to do in my freetime :). For me, it's really difficult to cry, but I found that learning to control your facial expressions while yawning with my mouth closed, helps out a lot. Works best for characters that cry out of anger since the nostrils will flare.

To anyone who is struggling on acting or how to fake cry, let me tell you this. i'm no actor, in fact i'm just 14. but i can say practice truly does make perfect. I'm in a band, and when you're part of a band you have to learn stage presence, posture, and make sure to always smile. never look awkward. Now I've learned this over the years since I've always been quite musical and I've gotten the hang of being very confident on stage. And a good way i did that was standing in the middle of my room my back facing the mirror as i started my song. when i got to the middle of it i would turn around and finish the song, observe my expressions and see ways i could get better. And it worked i focused and learned over time to lose my RBF face on stage. Same with acting, when acting it can be difficult since you cant see what your doing with your face, you never know if your doing too much or maybe not enough. But when looking at a reflection and studying your face, taking time out of your day to have a conversation with yourself. creating monologue or re-sighting lines from a movie, tv show or favorite character. know that, that is practice. I've always loved the filming/music industry and i''ve been in many plays as well, i talk to myself quit a lot too which helps me put myself in my characters shoes so don't be shy to daydream as well, it expresses creativity. I can now cry on command. it takes a minute or two but it took nearly 2 years of practice. It wont happen immediately. if it does great, if it doesn't that's just a sign to keep trying! :) I hope this helped!

Another way is to not blink until you feel tears coming out, and then start scrunching up your face and breath heavily(like a person normally does when they cry) and you can get this teary effect and you can also try to think of some emotional stuff(for me it’s anime death scenes lol) to get tears to drip down your faces.

I looove the monologue choice from the submission. An incredibly delicate moment from the show. The stage manager's line after Emily's monologue is crazy. I thought the simplicity and vulnerability of Wilder's writing really fit her well. I agree with a lot of the critiques that you gave her, but I truly thought it was well done.

Great video overall, but what I LOVE is what you said at the beginning about what really mattering being the organic natural emotions that come out. ALL THE TIME I hear people and see people online being like “acting challenge! Sad… 😔Happy! 😊angry… 😠😠” AND THATS NOT RIIIIGGGHTTTT and it makes me SO MADD! in my acting class we were taught that actors don’t perform emotions, they perform ACTIONS, and emotions are byproducts of those actions, and following that practice has made me SUCH a better actor. Anyways thanks for the guidance for when casting directors want fake tears lol 🤭

A method that has really worked for me is to just relax the muscles in my face, it also feels more natural that way. Look at a certain spot, a certain spot in my room, or even looking into someone’s eyes. Just staring for a bit and my eyes tear up, then you can start really living into the characters emotions and tears will drop eventually
@jomarkmagbanua143 Жыл бұрын
Watching your video I think I realized my own style of having the tears to come out, although it's not really overflowing but it's there. Building up the dialogue going to that scene made me feel the emotions. I tried doing a monologue where I talked about a scenario first that led to the sad moment and baam, I could feel my body being sad and the tears welling in my eyes. Although I have to make a crying face because it's usually how I cry, I can see the tears forming and feeling the emotions. I just have to make them fall the next time though haha. Thank you so much!!!!

I was starting to think I should look for a new method, only because I was starting to think it was 'too simple'for a 'grown-up' actor -- I actually thought to myself: 'Come on, you're not in high shcool anymore, you have to find some more sofiticated and grown-up' -- what a load of rubbish! Thank you for confirming my first instinct, that it IS a valid technique! (I usually would build up the yawn -- I can yawn on demand! -- supress it, and THAT'S what builds up my tears! :D ) xxx

Paintbrush! Love this video! As an amateur actress, I do struggle with crying on cue, especially if it's subtle crying, though I've no trouble doing intense crying. Thank you for the tips, Mikayla! 🥰

I think the monologue submissions are such a great idea :) My favourite of all the methods is probably the fake it first method. It reminds me of what I do :) (Just me acting alone in my room, no actual experience) Also - Paintbrushes are absolutely amazing and wonderful products :)

Thank you for all the work you put into making these videos. I am so passionate for acting and really hope to become an actor. I'm 12 years old and have been in a couple school plays. Next year I am going to try and join an acting class in my junior high. Anyways, thank you so much. I hope to become an amazing actor like you someday. 💖 paintbrush!

Another way to cry on command is, keeping your eyes open for a few seconds, and it’s okay to blink once in a while as your doing it, it’ll still work, and also give your tears a chance to drip down your face! Hope this helps!

I have this thing where I’m actually able to keep my mouth closed while yawning. So how I usually do it is that I breathe in for a few seconds and then the yawn starts to kick in. Afterward, I’m able to keep my mouth closed during the yawn so I don’t have to worry about opening my mouth during the play. It’s actually pretty fun 👀

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I needed this a lot for an upcoming audition, and I think I'm going to get the part! Wish me luck!!! It would mean the world to me if I could get this part because it's a generally good role in the spring musical. I love this video, and I'll definitely be using some of these tips. Can't wait to see some more of your content! #Subscribing! (Paintbrush)

I'm not an actor and have no idea why I'm watching this but I am a comedian and storyteller naturally, it's just how I live my life. Part of building a humorous character often requires that I do very obviously fake crying, but sometimes what's really weird is it makes me actually start crying for no reason. It's really embarrassing because once I start crying it's hard to stop so I was trying to look a certain kind of odd and just ended up being plain weird. Yayyyyyyy
