How to Cut a Shag - Womens layered hair cutting tutorial unisex before and after

Hey Everyone! Ive been asked so many times to create a tutorial for anyone who wants to learn how I approach Shag haircuts! im very sorry that its not in a broken down, step by step process, as I dont often do hair cutting tutorials. If youre a beginner in hairdressing and feel intimidated by shags and layered cuts, i hope this video helps. I think this is a great "starter" shag for anyone whose more used to a light layered/blunt cut and may be aoprehensive to cutting a lot of layers in. i also love the bangs in this as they can function as a curtain bang as well as a full fringe!!

Go for it! I love shag cuts! Sometimes just showing the full process rather than showing individual steps can be helpful, so I think some people might actually learn well this way too!

I have always had very thick hair and have always had shags both long and short. I love it, it allows me to have more flow with less work. My hair would just be thick and drag my face down without it.

I don’t know a lot of people who do shag cuts, but it’s because it’s a trendy style that’s quite scary for a lot of Stylists to attempt

I had to do it myself because not one stylist knew here what shag is when I asked they said they have never heard of it, but in all fairness where I live they only do ethnic hair not straight fine hair like I have. So that's why. mostly blunt haircut and relaxer type of stuff.

This is pretty hair cut but it's not a shag it's just soft long layers, it's very tame something the shag isn't.
