If your exporting as a .stl file Select the part you want, go to export and then in the .STL panel you will see under Include "Selection Only" Check that on and that will only export what you have selected. Batch mode will export each object in the scene as it's own .Stl file. Be sure to check your .STL file scales. Blender applies a scale factor depending on what it is set to on import and export.

Very nice. I'm a SLIC3R user (not SLIC-3R :-) Regarding separating shells, that is a feature that SLIC3R provides, so I'm thinking with the example you provided, you would not have needed Blender. You could have done it all in SLIC3R.

Yes and no. In slic3r when you separate shells, it auto arranges them afterwords. So for example lets say your making that hulk helm and you wanted to keep everything where it is except for the face. In slic3r it'll split everything up while in blender you can pick and choose which part you want to isolate
