Just a Mama with a son who has exactly this hair type in a different colour. I had no idea how I was going to cut it when he got older so I can keep his curls. Now I know and when he can sit still I will totally do this. Video saved for future reference .

Hey! Curly head mama to a curly top toddler. I’m watching this after cutting his hair. Definitely will try this next time. I’m trying to his my son’s curls too! I’m hoping if I take care of it, he’ll keep his curls. But only time will tell.

I've watched a couple of your curly hair tutorials, and it makes me a little more at ease . My husband's hair is curly, and he hates how everyone has done it because they go too short . So im hoping i can do better

Thank you!! This is my son's hair just very slightly curlier. He hates going to the barber. I've been doing ok with him but this gives me a system to follow! His hair is thick so I do texture it some and it makes the cut very forgiving. And you are correct, Curies only need to by 80% dry or use diffuser. Love this cut!

Really enjoyed this. Very helpful. I have 2 boys (23&15) and I’ve cut their hair many times. (Generally just to trim in between real cuts) & surprisingly they’ve turned out pretty good. But it sometimes feels awkward when trying to pick up another section of hair, so I was trying to really concentrate on how you help your hand/ used your comb. Thanks for the tips!

Learned to cut hair during covid. Curly hair had been interesting to cut. One person has thick straight hair and underneath in just the back is very wavy hair. Makes no sense. Last time I tried very small horizontal cuts in back and it took forever, but looked nice. Very strange to cut.

Great video ! My 6 yer old son has 2 crowns im the back of the head... i wonder if he could wear a short hair cut like a bald fade with a 3 on top or would it look silly because the crowns would make bald spots ?
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
That would be totally ok. Sometimes a crew cut done well is a great answer for the double crown. If you look closely everyone has a tiny bald spot where the hair spreads out from the crown. It’s totally normal.

I've been loving your videos to help me cut my toddler boys' hair. My 5yo wants to grow his hair out. Its currently about the length of the finished cut in this video or a little longer. He wants it to grow out past his shoulders. He has curly hair in the back and kind of straight on the top. I haven't seen any videos from you on this so I am curious .... Is the methodology for cutting it in the intermediate stages from medium to long basically the same, but just keep more length? I also have a problem with making the bangs/forehead area too straight across, if you have any advice for that I would love to hear it. If you have a video already made on either of those two questions I would absolutely watch them!
@theoneminutebarber11 ай бұрын
The method is the same but you are just taking longer sections. For the front I’d recommend using over direction to layer it. This video might help to explain that. How to Over Direct Hair | Layering and Over Directing hair Explained easily with pipe cleaners. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gnfGpISFnL91kNk

Did you have a flashback to your barbering exam Mike? The examiner would have nailed you for cutting past the 2nd knuckle! Besides that, very helpful. I'm would have to go much slower just to confirm I had the guide. I liked your trick of picking up the lower hair & the previously cut with the comb: much easier to see what's been cut.
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
I’m a second knuckle rebel. I always think what’s the point in using a 7inch scissor if your only cutting to the second knuckle. So I just go for it. 😂 I’m too greedy
@brucewayne2091 Жыл бұрын
@@theoneminutebarber how many times have you drawn blood? I'm guessing not often
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
Every now and then it happens. Probably once every couple of years. But it’s normally when I’m chipping in. I’ll chip right into third knuckle.
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
The main reason for not cutting past the second knuckle is that (some people say) you can’t get the same tension on the hair. My cutting style often means I refine the work I’ve done anyway, so imperfections on the first pass don’t matter that much.

@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
by inverted to you mean narrow at the top? If so I would look for a style that adds volume to the top, blow dried up loose like a robert pattison type haircut. Use mouse if you are finding it hard to get volue

hey mate so i got a question, i live in Adelaide, Australia and i work at a walk in barber shop as a 17 year old 10 month apprenticeship duration so far. The other barbers aren’t qualified except for the boss and get paid well, (Aud$30+). In on $13 an hour and going to TAFE and doing style cuts already. Do you think this is fair or i should be able to get more money ? I’m a little slower than the others but that’s because i take my time on the cuts
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
I don't know what is a fair wage in Australia, but as a rule of thumb in the UK, a staff member needs to make three and a half times what their wage is in order to consider a payrise. This is because of all the hidden costs that the employee doesn't see (holiday pay 5 weeks, sick pay, beveavement pay etc... Tax on their takings such as VAT, training costs, workwear, the cost of their workstation, tools, shop costs and on and on)
@Cutsbydamo Жыл бұрын
@@theoneminutebarber Okay yeah all good, on average on long so you think the average haircut for men should take? Cheers Damo

how would you work around someone that has 2 cowlicks? and people that have poofy thick hair when dry.
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
If the hair is long the cowlicks probably wouldn’t be too much of a problem. The thickness of the hair can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how they want to style the hair at the end.
