Thanks for the super easy breakdown! We haven't covered clipper cuts yet but my partner needed a cleanup before an interview and you made it super easy to get it done right. We took him a little further above the occipital since he's growing out from an undercut and ibwent with a 90° cut on top, but your tips about blending the sides and top made all the difference in bringing it together. Thanks for sharing!

I know what you mean about that detailer. I don't have one myself but I was introduced to ceramic blades when I worked as a dog groomer and they were a nightmare, always the first blades to go dull and start chewing hair. Thankfully dog grooming blades are detachable so we just swapped out for steel.
@theoneminutebarber

I'm contemplating doing a video on it. I've been in touch with stylecraft, they couldn't care less. They are selling gimmicks to professionals at a premium price.

@@theoneminutebarber the ceramic blade thing has been a problem for a while but I had no idea it crept into barbering man. Doesn’t surprise me that they’re being like this tbh. This stuff found it’s way into the cooking industry a few years back too until people realised their knifes would break and chip easily and couldn’t really be sharpened well. They’re so brittle that they get wrecked pretty quickly and in a much most disastrous fashion than good ole steel.

Welcome Beth. The cause is that your sections are too big. That's almost always the cause. Try making them thinner.

What’s the idea behind the flat box shape? Why is hair in middle of head shorter than front and back ? This is how you just blend of sort? But this doesn’t create layers right?
@theoneminutebarber
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
The front to back section is creating layers you are correct. I want the crown to be longer so it doesn't stand on end and the client wanted his fringe longer, you can see the section gets gradually longer towards the front. So my sections are a 'graduation' of longer layers. The box shape means there is more weight resting above the parietal ridge at the sides. Also called the block.
@joycewee5110
@joycewee5110 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael! from [9.30] when cutting the top back, you lift the hair at 90 degree for the section, do you maintain at 90 degree as you work your way down? or do you lower slightly as you move down the sections? Thanks in advance for the clarification.
@theoneminutebarber
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын

Hello there amazing work. Can you help me i make scissor marks when i cut the top of the hair when cutting what causes this. i haver eally good scissor sharp not blunt to cause this problem.My clipper work is good taper neck without squaring etc. my haircuts are good just scissor marks
@theoneminutebarber
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
This happens mainly on straight hair. The solution is to make your sections smaller and more precise. Almost always the culprit is the section is too big. You can also smooth them out by cross checking. Take sections from front to back and remove and bumps. This is a fine tuning method.

I bought your course on Udemy to cut my boy's hair. It's very helpful and especially loved the tutorial on holding a scissor and comb. But, I've run into a problem. How do you blend in the sides easily? I tried the scissor work where you hold your finger vertical, but his hair is so light and it's difficult to get the hair between your fingers.
@theoneminutebarber
@theoneminutebarber Жыл бұрын
Thank you for joining the course tiny, I think you need to keep doing it until it feels natural. I almost always cut that way and then polish it off with scissor over comb. Focus on keeping the section small and neat and really go slowly to make sure it's clean and perfect, at the correct angle. And that you are connecting to the short hair.

I might do a dedicated video for that subject. That knowledge is important, infact it's a cornerstone of the profession. That said I already know that anything I make will be picked apart by people who know better. In every country, or state there seems to be a different standard, here in the UK there is no regulation whatsoever, each shop sets its own standard.
