This is sooo much better and easier than cutting multiple guide lines and then fading out the lines! Will definitely use this method to DIY my own fade cut, as soon as my clippers and 3 way travel mirror arrive. Thanks!

Hello Michael thank you for the awesome tutorials. At 13:42 did you mean to say the half guard and not the one and a half ? Because then when you moved up you put on the one guard? I am sorry but it's so confusing when you are new to this like me. Cheers!
@theoneminutebarber2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is confusing. It's a 1.5 mm guard which actually is the same as the blade with no guard and the lever down. Both are 1.5mm Not many clippers come with a 1.5mm they aren't really necessary for some reason I like them. The number #1 guard on the other hand will say 3mm on it and is just a bigger step up. The best advice I can give is to visualise a gradual increase regardless of the numbers you use.
@DocHoliday5962 жыл бұрын
@@theoneminutebarber I understand ,thank you for the reply. That is good advice. It's just that I am a complete beginner and try to do exactly the same as you do because I am scared I will mess up lol so I obsess over the details.

Hi Michael. Great video as usual. Can I make a video topic request? It is a few weeks until you are due for a haircut, but you have an event to attend which you want to look your best for. A video to do a quick clean up around the edges? Thank you!

@@theoneminutebarber Hi Michael, the neck hair video was great, but an all encompassing video was what I was thinking. Yes, the back, the front neck, around the ears, the fringe up front and of course the hair growing out of the ears for the geezers, like me. Basically a clean up front to back to make your appearance presentable between haircuts. Thanks for your consideration!

Just want to say thanks for these tutorials. You have a very natural teaching style which has giving me the confidence to fully cut my own hair now. I’m doing a .5 to a 2 on the back and sides and point cutting the top (which I learnt to do separately). Please keep the videos coming with regards to self haircuts and any further hints and tips will be well appreciated. Would you also consider making videos reviewing the equipment you use or we novice self cutters could look to buy, suggestions on what to buy and what to avoid etc etc?

how do you do a drop or low fade without going to high up? my problem is that i glasses so it hard to cut my hair. i did try the silicone band and used the clippers with the fade it works but i did cut a lot shorts on my left side dont remember how did it. again i wasnt wearing my glasses at the time so it was hard to tell what i did wrong. i just need more practice

I can give you a really good tip. Just fold up one leg of your glasses and put them back on. That frees up that side of the head. Then swap

Michael - I wear glasses. From your other videos, I have learned how to use the clippers without my glasses. This fade looks like glasses will come in handy. What do you recommend?
@theoneminutebarber3 жыл бұрын
You can fold up one leg and put them on. Then cut around the ear area that is free, then swap positions. Then once you are finished the ears just complete the rest of the cut with your glasses on.
@raymondbavaro59113 жыл бұрын
@@theoneminutebarber Thank you Michael....I tried your suggestion, but my glasses don't cooperate. This morning I cut my hair and it came out pretty good. I am getting good with the back also, with experience. No glasses while using the clippers, then I put them on to see how it looks and make adjustments. Thanks for responding.

Hey Michael, I cut my sons hair to save money. I start at the crown using the longest guides, then work down grabbing shorter and shorter guides as I get to the bottom. Do you advise against this method? Thanks! I just ask because you start with the shortest from the bottom. Is it just a matter of preference?

Both methods work. It's completely personal preference

Love the videos I've only started cutting my own hair since lockdown only ever went 1 on the sides but this video makes me wanna try a home fade, any tips????? Could you tell me the order of the clippers for the sides please?
@theoneminutebarber3 жыл бұрын
A couple of tips. Keep your bald line low. And take your time. For me I always work in the same order. Zero Quarter Half One One and a half Two. And just move my line up a little on each change.
@markwatt7183 жыл бұрын
@@theoneminutebarber does it matter if you go zero then one because my clippers don't have the thing one the side to go to a quarter then half ????
@theoneminutebarber3 жыл бұрын
You will find it extremely difficult to 'rub out' the line between the one and the zero without the lever. I have a set without a lever and have tried it. My conclusion is that it's impossible
@egvideos70932 жыл бұрын
Nice Video!! you should do one with a clipper that doesn't have a lever 😢😢😢. mine doesn't have!!!
@theoneminutebarber2 жыл бұрын
You can work without a lever. The lever allows small increment changes. But you can either move through the guards or bend the clipper away. I do have a clipper without a lever though so may do that.

balding guys like me are often told just to shave it off or keep it really short so wanted to know if you'd ever do a fade on a balding man?
@theoneminutebarber3 жыл бұрын
No it would look totally fine. The fade is really just how the sides are finished. If your not going bald on the sides then you can do anything you want there. If you are thinning on top just deal with that separately.
