I’m doing fishless cycle can u put the whole bottle of dr Tim’s one and only 2oz it’s for 30 gallons but I’m doing a 10 gallon tank is it okay to dump full bottle or no?
@TheCoralReefTalk8 ай бұрын
Yes you can absolutely pour the whole bottle in. You cannot overdose one and only. Great question, thanks for asking.

I started my 36 gal bow front Hob filter with Dr Tim’s bacteria and ammonium in a bottle. Went through the rise and fall of ammonia and of Nitrites, then Nitrates. Did about a 40% water change and my Nitrates are still high. I did remove the small filter in the Hob with a new. Should I have removed that filter? Did it hold some of the bacteria? Also, will my Nitates come down? Is this just a step in the cycle?What should my Nitrates be starting?

The filter will hold some however the rock work, sand and other surfaces will also have beneficial bacteria. Filtration will help bring nitrates down as well as water changes which will dilute them. You are on track nitrates can be 20ppm or so as you add tank mates more bacteria will continue consuming and growing. Definitely check out the startup checklist if you haven't already.

@@TheCoralReefTalk thank you for your reply. I did another 70% water change yesterday. Even though more improvement I still did bring them down quite enough 🫠 Nitrites 2ppm , Nitrates 40 ) So can I bring them on down with filtration and carbon or would it be best to do one more big water change and then from there keep in check? It will be awhile since I will qt my first pair of clowns first.

Do I do a water change before the ammonia spike or just leave the tank alone and test it
@TheCoralReefTalk10 ай бұрын
Good question, New tank? so you will see Ammonia and then you will see Nitrites jump up, then you will start to see Nitrates. Once you are reading nitrates and your Ammonia and Nitrites test zero then you can do a water change. Keep testing it for now.

Hiya yer will be a complete new tank last time I tryed I was told to do water changes and it just wouldn't cycle so I wait for the cycle to start then start the water changes?

Thank you so much look forward to watching ur content
@TheCoralReefTalk10 ай бұрын
@@JordanChapman-eq5nh Yeah wait for the cycle, and you can even wait a few days once you are showing nitrates and do a partial water change.

Hi I had cycled my 1500 liter aquarium with only fish 4 months ago with seachem stability in 7 days but after 7 days nitrate was 60 ppm. Still I have problem and nitrite is now 100 ppm.

Thanks for the video. Day 11 atm with barebottom setup. Looks like nirite is very very high atm but nirate is slowly rising now. Going to wait for the 14day mark and do another test. If nirate is high ill do a 30% water change. Should i dose dr tims ammonia again to see how fast it converts over ??
@TheCoralReefTalk8 ай бұрын
You're welcome. If you are showing ammonia and nitrite then the cycle processes is happening. I would just monitor it by testing to make sure ammonia and nitrite go to 0 and u have nitrates before doing a water change. You shouldn't have to had more bottled ammonia.
