Pro tip - for the lead being the matador, no hunchbacking at all during any part of the paso routine. You do that, you completely destroy the postural requirement of the paso doble for the lead, which is a straight posture with the pelvis forward to create the matador look. The only time you can hunchback is when you do the knee drop and the follower is in very close closed position and you look at the follower's feet to create the dramatic highlight, but this is also discouraged, because you need to look at the follower's eyes also for the whole routine, because that follower might also act as the bull--and in a real corrida, if the matador does not keep the eyes on the bull, that matador can get badly gored--or even worse---bleed to death.

Actually, he said “of all the Ballroom and Latin American dances”. These are the two categories of competitive parter dance! Paso is considered Latin, even though it’s from Spain. :)

I danced paso doble AND flamenco, so let me clarify just for you. In ballroom paso, an excessive stamping noise is discouraged. But in real flamenco dancing, which does definitely has elements of paso doble, stamping noises are encouraged due to a lot of tapping noises that are involved.

I am a bit confused. I learned this in the mid 1980's. We were told partners should never separate beyond arm's length. The idea being the matador should have his tape in his hands at all times. Has this notion changed.

These dances definitely changed over time. Current competitions bore me. The couples are barely even looking at each other anymore. They're always grandstanding, appealing to the audience and the judges. No chemistry. The couple focus is gone.

This is just my personal opinion but I don't know if I rate Chloe as highly as the other female pros. The movements don't seem as sharp and clean to me. Perhaps it's because she's so young and therefore a tad more inexperienced than the others. Definite potential though.
