this is so inspiring to me. i am in an environment where a lot of people compare dance now with what they see on tiktok(i am not against tiktok). My dance is completely different from what they see on the those platforms so they end up criticizing my dance style. it doesn't stop me from expressing myself.

I love how you mentioned that our pasts influence our dancing... I practiced Wing Chun kung fu in hs, and during my second festival the idea to use my footwork and hand movements of wing chun came into my mind, and i could suddenly dance! Ladies were suddenly slapping my ass and I was so proud that I had it in me to dance!

I am 22 years old and I would like to be a professional dancer of Hip Hop Dance and Contemporary Dance but I feel that my age prevents me from doing so along with the little experience in dance I have: c, what can I do?
@xmidsummersky6 ай бұрын
well, i’m not a professional dancer, but i can say this: i'm 29, i’ve only had hip hop lessons for 2,5 years now and i’ve improved a great deal since i started! (also according to my teachers and our school owner lol). and the only dancing i did before this was 2 years of jazz during high school. it’s hard to tell whether starting this late can get you into professional work areas since professional dancers usually start really young. but as long as your body is in good shape, i reckon you could get quite far!

I feel like every STEEZY video I watch makes me more knowledgeable and better able to appreciate what I'm seeing. Thank you! And as far as the claim that this video is duplicative of the earlier "how not to dance awkward" video… I watched that one when it came out, and even this non-dancer can recognize that the videos are addressing different issues.
@ccasserole52676 ай бұрын
@@DKisHERE12 As a professional dancer AND someone who has ACTUALLY watched both videos, I can definitely say that this video is vastly different from the presumable other video you're probably comparing it to (i.e. the one starring Lauren) in terms of approach, structure, ideas, advice, and theses. Lauren's video is a list citing specific "awkward" dancing habits and how to fix them: 1) staying in the box, 2) stiff neck, 3)wandering eyes, 4) losing balance, and 5) not tracking progress. This video is a mini essay about how dancers can productively foster their unique style and eccentricities as they grow. Basically, the only similarities Lauren's video and this video share is their titles and their initial premises (though they approach each of their respective premises in radically different ways from the other). This all would be incredibly self-evident if you actually watched both videos in question. Edit: Also, no one asked for your opinion nor your rude condescension either. Funny how comment sections work.
