A brief (not really) explanation of some of the things you should consider when deciding on your deadlift technique
Points covered include stance width, toe out angle, grip width, hip position and execution
Intro - 0:20
The Set Up - 0:52
Stance width - 1:01
Toe out - 3:02
Grip Width - 3:40
Hip Position - 5:57
Execution - 10:00

Another issue with gripping directly under your shoulders is depending on the person there may be no knurling which for some can make it considerably harder to grip.

Excellent video fam. Thank god you, gibbs, candito, hancott are making informative videos. Common youtubers dont explain stuff like those who are performing the lifts at such an advanced level.

Great video, was wondering if you could do one on the mobility routines you did to obtain that hip flexibility. No matter how much I stretch my hips I can't seem to increase my mobility in them

Hi JP! I still find this video really helpful when trying to relearn the sumo dl. Hope you can make more videos on sumo dl, common mistakes, improving set up etc. You are one of the few that put out good contents on KZbin. Keep it up!

Many thanks from Belgium for this accurate and informative sumo deadlift tutorial. Especially the part about the hip position was GOLDEN! This helped my form more than any video or tip I have seen on the internet and I've seen a lot (Supertraining, Ed Coan, Alan Thrall, Elite FTS, Omar, T-Nation,...). Hope you will bring out more videos, because you really have a clear way of explaining things.Succes with your already great lifting career, I'll be following you :).

There's a lot of great content creators out there for powerlifers from people like Dave Tate at eliteFTS right through to people like Bryce Krawcyzk at Calgary Barbell. All can offer a lot of insight and help. But your videos, particularly your cues have been some of the most helpful for me. Keep up the great work!

Nice vid. Thought you could've added a discussion about getting tight (upper back and lats) and pulling the slack out. Also as someone who has longer legs relative to torso length, I find this makes me lock out knees earlier than hips, as opposed to someone with shorter legs relative to torso

Will you always be strongest with a stance width with your shins vertical (in all planes)? If so, then the optimal stance width should be easy to determine. Then its more about getting the hip position right.

How did you build your strength? I assume you didn't start off working out at the gym pulling 400lb you had to start off at the bottom like all of us. What system did you use and how long did it take? I'd like a video on that if possible.

Finding the correct execution for me was a complete mind fuck. Initiate with the heels or mid foot? Explosive hip drive vs static pull? Do you visualize as a pull or a push? fuaaaaaaaaaaark

When u say Chins vertical u mean vertical when ur in position to lift off correct ? Cause even if I’m to wide I can squat further down and make then vertical but won’t be my lift off postion as I’ll be to low and as soon as I pull the slack and sort of get in position my chins would be not vertical ... hope I sort of made sense bro
