I watch your videos daily, it helps me stick to the program to remind me why I'm giving up all the foods I used to eat and enjoy (and was addicted to). Also mentally practicing resisting triggers like imagining passing the ice cream or chips section without buying any. I also mentally prepare myself with visualization for driving past fast food places, or going to the grocery and bulk store which are bombarding me with triggers. I have given in a few times at first but now I'm getting much better at sticking to it. Also I had a non-keto Thanksgiving, that was rough to recover from and now I am really avoiding these "cheat meals" knowing how bad my body feels after because the cravings reappear and it's hard to push through at first, but I rewatch your videos when I'm obsessing about sugar and other non-keto foods.

I really feel the need to share this with the world! Has helped me so much Vegan keto hot cocoa 6-8oz unsweer almond milk 1 square bakers chocolate 2 tbsp mct s or coconut oil About half a scoop of vanilla vegan protein powder I heat the almond milk on the stove and wisk the ingredients in. I drink half before and he after my keto meal. Totally prevented over eating and cravings for me

Actually, pregnant women who crave eating dirt, raw flour, & a couple other strange things are urged to not do so because the craving is actually the deficiency of a certain vitamin which they contain. The OB would rather supplement the deficiency safely. Amazing that a body knows what to eat to get what's lacking without even consciously having cognition of what is lacking. And we ignore all that inner knowledge yet claim that we are evolving? Stranger question. Why do some postpartum women, a very few, have a ravenous desire to consume the ejected placenta?

Interesting because just sucking up the crave to be in shape could be bad in a long run since the body needs its sources and we basically don't feed it back even eating healthy sometimes, great information, definitely writting it down and see what I can do about it instead of losing control on food

mdTEACH05 I guess I run in different circles, but there are a lot of homeless & hungry people in the West. You can't tell me someone who refuses to panhandle out of pride is just suppressing their craving. And that another person who does & buys McD's because they can't make or store food is succumbing to a craving. I guess you'd say that having shelter when it's cold is a craving too. Yeah, right, get off it.

I had insane cravings for chocolate up until recently - I could not get enough of it. Within the last few years I started also having heart palpitations and skipped beats that the dr's could not explain as well as twitching at night. I started supplementing magnesium for the twitching and I no longer have palpitations or insane cravings for chocolate. In fact, if it's not really, really good chocolate I'm not interested (such as Lindt). I wish this stuff was more widely known.

Your body wants carbohydrates, and you should give it that, but not in the form of cake and cookies ;). Make sure to load up on vegetables like squash, beetroot, sweet potatoes etc. If you eat well (healthy) and enough you should be more able to resist those cravings. It usually works pretty well for me, but sometimes I forget to make myself enough good meals and I'm not prepared well enough and I slip ;). It's life...

Oliver If you have an Indian Pakistani Grocers near you ..you are in luck.. they have a very inexpensive product a powder that usually comes in a jar ,it usually costs about $6 and could easily last you a month or two or more. is called METHI powder, hahaha not to be confused with methamphetamine.. although it is very very bitter, horribly bitter this product not only can help with SUGAR CRAVINGS but it is a TREATMENT if not a cure for DIABETES as well as BALANCING the HORMONES for both MEN and WOMEN.. They say it also therefore helps with BALDNESS...this really will help with the sugar Cravings because if you eat too much of it you will get a stomach ache like a little kid on Halloween who was eating a bunch of his candy. This is the reason i stopped taking the methi powder around the holidays because i wanted to enjoy pigging out on cookies and chocolates but really that was not a smart idea because i did gain a few pounds ... Anyway, you have nothing to lose by buying this powder... mix it in warm water and just try to drink it as quickly as possible just to get it over with and then you can reward yourself by eating something very tasty to kill that horrible flavor in your mouth... it is nothing more than the ground up dry seed from the FENUGREEK plant... you can do your research on this. I believe methi powder is also a very good treatment for alcoholism because alcohol is loaded with sugar ... too much of sugary products and the methi powder will cause you to literally get a belly ache...truly ! They say SUGAR CRAVINGS happen because there's not enough COPPER in our diet.. They also said you can try using cinnamon and i don't believe this helps at all because almost every time i drink a cup of hot tea and i drink at least three or four a day i usually put some cinnamon and other spices in it so that it tastes like tea from India which has what they call Masala in it ( unless im drinking OOLONG , or PU ER.. or other Chinese or herbal teas .. which by the way all need to steep 20 minutes or more to be effective... most Americans don't know this .) I don't know anybody that eats as much cinnamon as do i and it DOES NOT CURB MY SUGAR CRAVINGS at all... the only thing that really works is methi powder.. and the price you pay is that horrible bitter taste but the most powerful Healers are usually bitter tasting because of the alkaloids.

I know keto had healthy benefits, but I can never stick to it. Even the regular (bs) 'eat every 2 hours diet is hard to follow, which is pretty logical in hindsight. So thank God I found Intermittent fasting. Easiest and most effective weight loss method. Period. Not even a diet, just a lifestyle The key for me is that when it's easy to follow, it's easy to keep consistent in the long term. So if you're not enjoying keto, then give IF a try if you've never heard of it before.

NasIsLike - Keep in mind, every body is different. It’s difficult for me just to ‘not eat’ because of my variable blood sugar. A person has to do some sort of healthy eating plan (“diet”?) to keep the levels under control, either via fat intake or low/no sugar intake, which would technically be considered a “diet”, right? 🙂

After nearly 3 weeks with 10 or less carbs a day I all of a sudden craved doughy food. I had 1/2 slice of marble pound cake- (11 carbs) took care of everything. Sometimes it’s ok to give in, but make sure it’s “just enough” and not too much.

Dr. Berg, I have been taking L-Tryptophan for about a week. The problem is I started with the 1 pill suggestion which worked that day but a few days later. 1 pill had no effect. I am now up to 3. Should I stop?

Oh, also, I used to crave starches really bad, and was having a problem with coffee (couldn't stop drinking it, but, it was doing no good) and also I was going crazy for bell peppers, tomatoes and eggplants and smoking like a chimney. Turned out I have a rather rare allergic reaction to wheat and corn, and, I am allergic to nightshades. Now, I can eat tomato, eggplant and/or peppers sometimes, so long as there's a good break of not eating nightshades. But, if I eat a french fry, I want to go buy a pack of cigarettes. I had read somewhere that if you are having trouble quitting smoking or wanting to start again, it could be a nightshade allergy and the way to find out is to stop eating them and see if you can quit smoking. Once I quit eating potatoes, quitting smoking (again) was a breeze. Come to think of it, though I didn't realize why until now, the first time I was able to quit smoking was also because I had quit eating nightshades. Because, back then, the only nightshade I could afford was potatoes and I started following the Yeast Overgrowth Diet by Dr. Crook, best as I could, where potatoes were a giant no-no.

This is some very valuable information! Thank you! I have a question for you. I purchased your book and three supplements for my issues, and I've noticed with the healthy eating habits I'm hardly ever hungry or have cravings. people are telling me if I don't get at least 2000 calories a day, my metabolism will suffer, but I'm just not hungry! Is that total BS, or is my metabolism going to slow down because of my eating less?

normally I'm on a keto diet + intermitted fasting but during the Christmas holidays I consumed sugar and I have to say I crave like crazy sugar and comfort food and I'm hungry all the time so sugar and comfort food makes you more hungry, craving, affects your mood very badly and of course very bad skin, also brain fog. But after starting keto diet + fasting I did not crave any sugar or junk food for the first time in my life

tony stark You supplement with ox bile. Locally, there is a place called Tunie's which carries pure Ox Bile. Most people prefer a supplement which contains other ingredients which work in conjunction with the ox bile to benefit the organs which are probably being overburdened by a the faulty, missing, or under functioning gall bladder. Usually they will contain pancreatic acids, digestive enzymes, & betaine HCl acid, but brand to brand the specific ingredients & strengths of ingredients vary. Check the dosages carefully because a higher dosage of a two capsule dosage may actually be stronger than one capsule at a seemingly lower level. There is no set dosage so many people go with what's best for them. I know one lady who takes 6-8 capsules a day since she has no gallbladder & her life has been miraculously changed by it. Lucky's Market has one by their house brand Apothecary, called Superzymes, which is very reasonably priced. The Now brand is called Super Enzymes & is widely available. If you ask a store associate for ox bike, they'll probably claim they never heard of it or that they don't carry it. Only a very knowledgable associate will confidently guide you over the digestive enzymes & start checking the ingredients listings. They'll just check the main labels & look dumbfounded. Haven't found any store personnel locally who know their stuff. And if you don't wish to search out a source locally, you might as well take a look at Dr Berg's Gallbladder Formula as well as the others available on the internet.
