Puddles don't have to hide anything to be dangerous if the water is stagnant. Bicycle tires, especially road tires, don't have much tread.

Sickens me when it is preached at cyclists to respect other road users when the respect needs to be pressured into motorists too.

As a cyclist myself, I'd say both sides, check the videos here on YT and see how many cyclist break those rules. I don't have to mention motorists, you know already ..

I'm probably about 50:50 cyclist:driver and would definitely say it needs to be repeatedly emphasised to both. I've seen both be dangerous and ignore rules, endangering other road users and pedestrians

Yes, commuted by bike and was shock to see a man in a British Cycling van drive with a mobile phone. Reported but British Cycling don't care about road safety. Never came back to me to apologise. I had evidence too.

Yes, I drive and cycle too and I would agree that there are relatively as many a--holes on two wheels as on four or more. All aspects of human nature both good and bad, are represented in all means of transport or commuting on the roads and footpaths.

Not wearing their helmets, tut tut.

Helmets are for fucking idiots who don't understand risk and don't bother to find out how pathetic a helmet is, it won't save your life and induces wearers to take more risk and thus are involved in more incidents and get hurt more often than non helmet wearers! All the evidence proves that helmets do NOT improve cycle safety. Helmets/headgear does not improve safety in boxing (hence they've now banned headgear in the amateurs), skiing, cricket, oh and that big one gridiron/American Football. Since helmets were mandated in racing deaths and injuries have gone up, since helmet rules were introduced in whichever country head injuries and overall injuries have gone up and cycling rates have gone down. Bother to find out the truth at cyclehelmet.org

@@ynotnilknarf39 Alright mate, chill out. If all my life I've been told by people in authority and people that safeguard me that I should wear a helmet for safety, it doesn't make me a 'fucking idiot' for assuming that's what you should do. Cheers for the link.

@@ishmael4489 helmets are a scapegoat for other people expediency. Since cycling is as safe as walking, it doesn't take much to figure out that the infrastructure kills not the lack of helmets. Saying always wear a helmet is like saying its your fault you're ill for eating at my buffet, not that fact that I don't wash my hands after using the bathroom.

Very surprised to see a video from British Cycling about hazards with riders with no helmets. Get some advice from A&E doctors. Very poor.

A&E doctors!.. A&E doctors are not accident investigators. They're the last people you should get advice from for road safety.

There are loads of people in the video wearing helmets. What are you talking about?

Helmets are not required. So no they haven't forgotten them. They have chosen not to wear them.
@bsfcccfsotonsussbacf3 жыл бұрын
@@yascaoimhin True that they are not a legal requirement in the UK. However, British Cycling (who made the video) recommends wearing them, so it seems a bit off not doing so in a video about safety and hazards
@yascaoimhin3 жыл бұрын
@@bsfcccfsotonsussbacf From Biritha Cycling's helmet policy "however we also support the right of each individual to choose whether or not to accept this recommendation and recognise the limit to the protection that helmets provide." The point of the video is to show the hazards one will encounter cycling. Those hazards exist whether or not you wear a helmet. Not wearing one does not make those hazards any less dangerous. SIMILARLY. wearing a helmet will not automatically infer on you safety and protection from those hazards and fingering that is MUCH MUCH more irresponsible.
