@Primo Antonius "Cloud". As a Cloud main: Don't do it. You will regret it. He really isn't that good. Lower High Tier at best, which isn't bad, but some place him lower Mid-Tier, so uh, yeah, you won't win that much tourneys with him :) And Online, he loses to every single Projectile char, which is so annoying.
@fantasygaming87185 жыл бұрын
@Primo Antonius That's not true at all. I don't know on what kind of skill level you play, but to have a chance in tournaments, you have to play Cloud on a high level. Only picking him up and playing without practice doesn't work. If you talk about Online, I have no idea, I don't play that anymore, because there are only Ness, Lucas und Link Players playing the game in Europe Online. I hardly see other chars and fighting those 3 is just annoying. And the lag is so fucking awful. Also, Mega Man is not in Clouds favour. Tbh, I think that Mega Man is a Pretty good Cloud counterpick. At my locals, I have 0 chance against the MM. In Sm4sh, yeah, you could pick up Cloud without problems and win a lot. I just love Cloud, so I'm just glad he isn't "lame" anymore.

I really appreciate KZbin showing me this at the top of my feed today. I had been doing great the last few days at Smash. I had been having fun and learning a lot even when losing. But today I just wasn't feeling well for some reason. I wasn't being able to read and punish my opponents and I was getting read like an open book. I got really salty after losing to a very defensive Lucina I usually win against. She was doing the exact same things over and over again, and while I saw many things coming a mile away, I failed miserably to punish them. As a result, I started getting tilted and playing worse. The match was even (mostly), but when I lost my last stock to an FSmash I actually saw coming, salt poured rapidly. I was really angry at myself and unconsciously yelled a couple times. Sad and unmotivated, I stopped playing and left. And when I reached my computer, I was welcome by this video. Thank you so much, BananaBoySSB! All your technical and mentality-related tutorials have helped me so much. Keep it up!

Dude this is so good. Thank you. The tiers of salt, and acknowledging that real people have real reasons for getting salty, some of which might be deep. "There are so many other amazing things in the earth to do besides play smash." Your honesty. "I've been in situations where Smash was my only source of fulfillment, and it's definitely made me a lot less happy overall." Despite my anger issues (which I deal with elsewhere), I can have MUCH fun. I find I play MUCH better and handling losing MUCH better when I put the game in the 'right order'. Playing After I've done work, excercise, had good sleep, done some chores and maybe even another hobby is Always Fun and A Learning Time. I delight in the game, the intricacy, the art, good moves - anyone's. Zombie mode is when none of those are happening.

SSS+ Tier: Losing to the same person for 2 years straight without a single win
@fruitlion85 жыл бұрын
In a world where it's very easy to compare ourselves to others, strangers or not, it's understandable to hate losses. It only hurts more online because people will do anything in their power to upset you, usually for the sake of a few montage views. Words hurt, even through a video game.
@boomko12535 жыл бұрын
This is really helpful for me. Im almost certain I have anger issues, but it seems to only come out when I play someone I don't see. (Examples being a CPU, online, etc.) At first, I feel mad at the person for causing me to lose, but then it gets worse, I start to get mad at MYSELF, and this state lasts too long. I don't know where it came from, but whenever I lose to something I was pretty confident to win, or maybe just lost in general, I feel like a pile of shit who is worthless. This had never lasted over a day, as I don't go to tournaments, but it lasts up to 30 minutes if I don't distract myself. (My Advice) Recently, I have been trying to calm myself when I'm angry, and a good strategy I have found is to think/talk to yourself or someone else about anything, ANYTHING else than the match. Of course, this doesn't work for anyone, but just talking about something that isn't smash for a sec, like plans later or something, really helps. Thanks for reading, and thanks for the video Banana Boy!

I honestly relate a bit too much. I've been playing level 9 cpus and am going down the roster but whenever I use a level 3 to warm up and practice combos and other stuff I feel extremely fucking dumb. Like why would it choose to do 5 smash attacks in a row whenever I try to come close to pressure it. It's really frustrating to think the cpus will adapt as much as the level nines and do different options and actually play the game like a human.

I remember being in a very sweaty UMVC3 local against my opponent in grands. It was like my 7th time coming and I was glad to make it so far so fast. However, this also put a lot of pressure on my mind and I played bad. I went 0-3 and wanted to get mad out loud. But I just decided to shake hands, walk home, and get some studying done for my midterms coming up. It helped a lot and I felt a lot better afterward.

Ive had this game for 5 days, tryn'a learn to play snek. I had such bad nerves last night online that my opponent switched to gannondorf from their main and tried to get KOs with wizard punch. Honestly, I appreciate you sharing these tips, I learned a lot of it from mindfulness courses etc.... despite losing the match to someone who switch to one of the most unviable characters in the game because they were so certain they would stomp me, I felt good about the match (I lost but got gannon down to their last stock) because I primed myself to expect to lose before I even started the match. Keep up with your stuff, im learning so much from your videos. This game feels like learning league of legends all over again (memorizing every single moveset).

Honestly something that I've found helps a lot after a loss is, if you can handle it, to go up and talk to the person you lost to about the match. Ask them what they thought about the games, how you played, what they punished, etc., and maybe even play freindlies with them too. It always acts as a reminder that the person I lost to is human too, and that they're someone who is also incredibly passionate about the game and it becomes much easier to accept the idea of losing to them in your mind.

I don't play smash but this video has been helpful to me regardless. I have this inner critic that thinks that I need to be perfect at everything immediately, except that that doesn't really work. It's good to hear from someone who plays a game somewhat professionally that they also lose and what they do, it's helpful.
@chazzilla89193 жыл бұрын
The problem for me is I'm a perfectionist too. I don't have online and I haven't seen my friends in person in a while, so I play against CPUs, level 7 mostly yet I won my first level 8 match yesterday. I used to clap their cheeks, so I fell to overconfidence and got MY cheeks clapped. So, I got angry that I wasn't being perfect and that I was losing a lot of games, close ones albeit. Another good thing to do in order to deal with a loss is to talk to the person you lost to. Be it asking for advice, talking about the match, just having a casual conversation, or playing friendlies with them afterwards. They’re usually the only ones that know what you were doing wrong during matches. Talking to them not only helps you play better in the future, but also helps relieve any sort of tension from the match.

I’ve never done a tournament, and probably never will, but if I did, here’s how I’d probably decide to handle things after watching this video: 1) Accept the loss and try to be a good sport about it. 2) Put myself in a room and scream the salt out. 3) Play Friendlies.

I usually don't get salty in any way besides when I lose any match because of several bad misinputs. That can happen with any match, but mostly when I play online because I misinput a lot there. I know that you shouldn't get salty because of a friendly or an online match, but my problem always is that I think that I could have played way better if I didn't misinput.

Losing is better then winning. I know it sounds crazy, but here's why. If you win every game, sure you're winning, but one, it'll get boring, and two, you're not really learning, and three, when you do lose, you get super cocky. But when you lose all the time, you're learning, adapting, and becoming a better player. It helps you realize the complexity of smash and helps you learn that not anyone can just win. It's very crucial. So lose. Shake the opponents hand. Fist bump. Do whatever. Then go home, and say "hey, what could I have done in that situation" and spend the next introvel between tournaments training and analyzing what you did wrong. For me, I wasn't thinking straight, and I obviously didn't realize until just recently when I played in my first big out of town tournament. I was getting way too nervous and not playing well at all. I almost got top 32, but still, I played horribly. I watched bananaboys video on mindset, and it has helped me improve into a much better player. So lose. Analyze. Adapt. And get better

I went borderline suicidal after realizing how agonizingly bad I was playing against some of these super good players. I then decided to stick with either CPU's or playground for a little while, and it helped me have fun again until I was ready to play competitively again. Just something that worked for me.

I searched "why do we hate losing" and it naturally brought me to the cause of my search. A smash player lol

I'm considering quitting competitive Smash altogether because of how much the stress and pressure of the end result of the match fucks with my head. For me it's getting to the point where it's taking away the fun of Smash and my love for the game. It's really hard on my ego. I consider myself a humble person, and in the process of building confidence, but something about losing at this game is so painful that I'm starting to feel like it's not even worth the competition.

Easiest way I'd say to have a good loss, make friends with your opponent beforehand. But this also just comes down to good sportsmanship

2 months later, and I'm still not doing that good, and its harder to stay motivated. Its rough, but I'm still trying.

I know I'm incredibly late, but I feel the advice in this video may prove quite useful. As someone who has some pretty bad issues regarding depression, I often beat myself up after a loss, to the point where it feels like it's a confirmation that I'm bad at everything. Personally I find it useful to just take a break after that kind of thing. (Note: I'm also a new player and haven't even gone to a tournament, so I don't know how this will manifest when I start playing with higher stakes than just my ego)

Its been only over a week, but I think I'm doing much better. I have a shot at going to my first tournament soon, and I'm keeping up practice. I hope things turn out good. See you then

Honestly good advice. For me I usually just get off the game and watch KZbin or some video game soundtracks. It always works. Might feel like trash, but I’m happy accepting that I’m slightly above average trash.

Online losses are at least A or B tier because I always die from lag spikes and it gets very very frustrating after the 4th or 5th time against an opponent you know you could body easily without lag

Ugh, I got put up against a dark pit that I knew I could easily beat on a regular sized stage. I was playing Richter. I couldn’t win cause he kept running away and spamming B and Side B, which reflects projectiles, and I couldn’t catch up because the stages were too big. I got tilted bad.
