Here are some simple ways that you can help deal with panic attacks for people on the autism spectrum fast. FREE 7 STEP E-BOOK: www.theaspieworld.com/ebook
1. Remove Yourself From The Situation IMMEDIATELY
One of the biggest things is staying in the situation that creates the panic attack. Always remove yourself immediately from the situation that is creating the panic in the first place.
2. Try Controlled Breathing in 5 hold 5 out
This is an old Buddhist technique and is a type of yoga breathing you breathe in for five seconds you hold your breath for five seconds and then you breathe out for five seconds. This helps put oxygen in the right places in your body and helps to calm down almost immediately this is a top tip for wanting to come down and release any that panic straightaway.
3. Drink Water (stops headache from dehydration)
This one may sound weird or odd or even just too simple to be true. When you have a panic attack you start dehydrating and the dehydration can cause headaches and that headache then cause more stress and more stress can cause more anxiety and more anxiety can cause another panic attack, so drink water and you eliminate this cycle.
4. After Calming Down Engage With Something Relaxing And Fun
This is one of my favourite things to do when you have a panic attack after you come down and get yourself together little bit more immediately emerge your self in something in gauging that is relaxing and fun. This could be playing a video game it could be seeing a friend or watching a TV show it helps so much.
This is simply a list of how to deal with panic attacks from me and my personal experience because I know how to handle panic attacks because I’ve been in this situation is a lot.
It’s difficult to know how to deal with anxiety it’s difficult to know how to deal with panic attacks and anxiety so the steps will help you overcome The stress that comes with a panic attack and also the panic attack itself with anxiety techniques related to panic attacks.
That are simple techniques to overcome anxiety and panic and it all starts with a guide to knowing what to do in that situation so please enjoy these tips and techniques that I shared with you today.
If you have any to add please put in a comment below.

Could you maybe do a video on how to tackle burnout/fatigue and tips and tricks on how to both help it and avoid it. I recently got my diagnosis so I've been spending my life being so exhausted everyday i cant even go to the bathroom or make food. So now I find myself in a weird space where I understand I am and will be exhausted but I dont know how to cope or how to avoid it

Quick tip: Carry a pack of gum! Panic attacks are our brains believing we are in danger (fight or flight) do to stress or anxiety. If you start chewing gum it sends a signal to your brain that you are eating and our brains are hardwired to know that we wouldn't eat if we were in danger, effectively disrupting the fight or flight signaled by stress... hope this helps it works great for my husband:)

I’m glad you made this video. I deal with panic attack all the time and they affect me at work as well. I remember watching Atypical and seeing Doug (the father) have his first panic attack, and I thought “wow, I really wish that they would show more about Doug and his struggle and how he himself would cope with panic attacks.

I still have Echolalia issues. I say words and short sentences i hear under my breath or in my head it repeats over and over. I also cant walk past rubbish with writing on it without stopping to read it. Chocolate wrappers or food containers or drink cans or cartons etc. Then once i stop to read it i feel like i need to pick it up now that Ive paid attention to that litter and it really should be in a bin. But i cant always find a bin. So i can end up carrying more and more rubbish with no where to throw it out. I feel compelled to put things where they belong. I take shopping trolleys not just back across the car park. But for several streets if i find them abandoned. I feel like if i dont return them then who will and it just all builds up in my head.

I love that breathing technique and use it all the time. I find for me I do it to my stim swaying instead of counting sometimes... often. I'll sway twice on a breath in....sway twice and hold...sway twice and breath out...sway twice and hold..repeat. Also worth noting it takes 90 seconds for a body to experience and release an emotion so sometimes if I know I can't escape the situation (stuck on public transport or somewhere I can't leave) I breath deep and count to 90 with my eyes closed and my stimming.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's around 2001 about the age of six. I never allowed my Autism/Asperger's to have the prerogative to stop me or slow me down, _despite panic attacks, teasing, bullying, treated unfairly, loneliness, etc_ Recently, at age 23, I royalty-published the book, “Juggling the Issues: Living with Asperger's Syndrome,” that’s being sold in multiple continents and sold out at various book distributors such as Barnes & Noble, and Walmart. I earned a degree in chemistry, juggle for elementary schools, am an Eagle Scout equivalent, and play piano for seniors on Sunday mornings, which are the “positive” aspects to ASD. I encourage children to never give up on their passions; if I can do it, so can you! I still face the “negative” challenges of ASD, and articulate that in my book as well...but I'm not letting that stop me either, as I endeavor to minimize them as much as possible. _Thank you_ for what you do, Daniel, and helping to spread awareness and acceptance! _You inspire so many!_ I’m not in competition with anybody, and I believe when all of us around the world work together, our ultimate goal will be met quicker, and this world will be a better place :)

nice vid. i've noticed i tense up so much during panic attacks ( which are thankfully reasonably rare ). so the breathing techniques just don't work if you do them in the wrong order. try and un-tense yourself first, which is quite hard. try to scrunch your shoulders up , or clench/unclench buttocks etc etc, then after that the breathing does work well. medical stuff often triggers me, i get that hyper focus thing you've mentioned in one of your other vids....and just dwell on some really negative scary aspect, and it all spirals out of control. deviation of focus also worked surprisingly well during a recent panic attack i had..... just listing 5 things i could see in the room. i was really sceptical of this, as i figured, in the middle of all that overwhelming chaos, there's no way this will bring me out of it. but it did..maybe it stopped that hyper focus aspect. sadly it didn't work as well in a more recent case. possibly i 'd not de-tensed myself enough first. it would be so amazing to just 100% stop it in it's tracks every time.

A thing that really helps me is doing that breathing technique, but hands on ears in a ball and do it, if you can’t get out, also I draw circles like the size of the round bit in an e, all over a page when I am panicking, I did a whole page today.

I noticed with myself and my boyfriend that speech echolalia is a form of getting feedback to make sure what you have said to the other has been conveyed and understood. My response with Eric is always to state in one word is understood or concured. Therefore he knows I got the message and he has been understood. It's like code language between autistic parties and using ASL(or any form of sign language in your region and dialect) while speaking can help to describe things without having to use spoken speech too.

That is why my doctor put me on valium- then my panic attacks turned into seizures. In 2017 - my ADHD and OCD- and extreem hyper activity- well I'm an Aspergers Female who got a rare - autoimmune disease, which I hear is common with Autism. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and Gastroparesis. So a hyper anxiety riddled Aspergers woman who ( stems) A lot. Lost her ability to move. I lost all my strength and left leg. My doc does not want me on valium for rest of my life to stop my " melt downs" and seizures, so I was just placed on lamictal. Plus all my muscle relaxers- valium ect. I'm paradoxical. So I'm hyper on this, which would knock others out. Like Adderall knocks me out and makes others hyper. Why? Are ADHD Aspergers such a paradox with meds? Anyways..cant wait for show. I'm one anxious person. Love you Dan.

I didn't know I was having panic attacks. The last one was so bad, I almost fainted. My husband called an ambulance and my blood pressure was extremely low. The doctors always said it was panic attacks. Most of the time it happens when i am sleeping, and i wake up to it starting. I remember the first one I ever had. I smashed my thumb in the car door in 97, just after highschool. I didn't realize until now that it was a panic attack.

Least now I know my trigger is lose of controle/not knowing where I'm going. Also, I'm not diagnosed... but I was diagnosed when I was 6 back in the early 80's with being "Socialy Handicapt". No, I heard of persuasive developmental disorder Not overwised specified PDD NOS before it was taken out the DSM5. ADD another like aspergers still exist but ADD turn into just a diagnoses of ADHD in the 90's. Manic depression became bipolar. Hypersexual was mental illness in the 80's. In the 60's alcoholism was diagnosed as a personal disorder. There was many changes diagnoses since the first DSM (1) was written.

@@garyfrancis5015 Sorry, no idea what most of the acronims are :S But as I very vaguly remember, part of it was that if I was doing something, someone could be stood besides me, screaming my name, and I wouldnt hear them... So they must have jumped on that alone. they tested my hearing for years, even wouldnt let me swim with the other kids cos they thought it was my ears... it never was... To this day I have to tell work collegues I'm not ignoring them, I just wont hear them, which always leads to stress when they call me out on it :S When someone 1st mentioned Asburgers to me, when I looked it up years ago, it used to be one of the symptome (alone with a LOT of the others, which kinda shocked me, but made me feel less broken) but that was sometime in the 00's.

I've never been diagnosed with Aspergers, though i show alot more signs than i did when i was younger. when i was younger i used to be very litteral on things, had large interests in certain topics, usually engineering or science, biology. I went through phases of liking aviation and then eventually just generalized into robotics/engineering. I did however smile all the time and talk to people alot, but i tended to be blunt with things, jokes went over my head and metaphors i took litteraly. I had issues with understanding what "friends" were as well as attention issues. I'm curious if while there may be a handful of symptoms early on may not be pronounced, but become pronounced into teen and adulthood as things increase in pressure. My friend irl is an aspie, pretty much my only actual friend and vice versa and i found that we shared alot of things in common. In conclusion, is it possible that while there may be subtle signs, mainly attention issues as well as socialization encomberances become amplified later in life, whereas it may not be as noticable in earlier years but more signs emerge in latter years? I have subbed and have been addicted to watching your content and learning about this for a few weeks now and i picked up on alot of signs in myself. Keep up the great work mate!

I "mannequined", froze, outside my door, in the cold, for nearly 45 minutes. Just standing there, not moving, not thinking, not seeing, not feeling, nothing. I heard, real or imagined, what sounded like metal dragging across concrete, scared me "awake". I ran inside & didn't make it to work again... I guess I have superhero panic attacks.
