Once again thank you Maggie . we are the first teachers of our kids so that can be either good or bad lessons that we teach . we need to consider what it actually is that WE are teaching . Charity begins at home . love expressed keeps Charity at home

Hi Maggie. I have had these conversations with my teen son about how he talks to mis mum countless times. What is the mode of escalation when these quiet conversations do not change the behaviour. Is ther me some literature or other information you can point to that addresses this when the rude behaviour turns into bullying and harassment towards his mum. Along with this I’m sure you have heard many times that the teen son won’t talk to his father that same way. How can I support my wife through this when she is often reluctant to ask anything of our son through fear of the immediate confrontation and abuse that follows. Thanks.

This could not be more accurate. I know someone who is struggling with this. Unfortunately, this child doesn't have such a healthy example of what adults should behave like. I care about these people. I do think, if the child is very young, let's say 4 years of age, they may not understand the explanation of "This isn't nice/this isn't ok for you to do that." Their attention span isn't that big. If it gets to be too much, there comes a point in time where they should be reprimanded quickly in a way that will get their attention. You shouldn't raise your voice too often because they need to know if you say something once, that it really means something. If you use the same method all the time, the child may ignore you. I know that these are things you're aware of, I just wish more people could understand the way that you do.
