If the downcurrent is along the wall, why would you swim parallel to it? Wouldn’t you want to swim away/perpendicular to it?

Something I learned from my instructor he said don't schedule deep dives or wall dives where it's possible to get pulled down. I only went on reef dives that were max of 65 feet bottom.

On Big wall dives, prevailing winds and tidal action will create currents that you will need to be prepared for, like the Man said, best to be avoided. So, the three P's. Plan, Prepare, Puss-out if it's too dicey.
