I absolutely love your video. As for your sprayer not working for a little while. Add more water oh, you may have put in too much to dish soap. That's soap has a tendency to be thick, and that's probably why it won't go through your sprayer as well.
@BotanicalWoman4 жыл бұрын
you're probably right! I have been taking better care of my spray bottles by spraying hot/warm water through it and its been helping! Thank you!

I just did this, rough estimates on the dish soap and hydrogen peroxide... so now they're totally soaked AND I gotta wait for how long for them to dry out?? Ughr. I hope I didn't k*** them (Peace Lily and Calla Lily).

How did you dispose of the water afterwards? Also, did you reuse the water or did you start with clean water after every plant?

Thanks for sharing. Is it still necessary to re-pot the plant with new potting mix after the bath? I see other videos recommending that.

I haven't done so but I can see why you might want to as an additional safety measure.

Do you have any tips on how to get your plants to dry after this process? I have a problem with fungus gnats and I feel like the soaked soil might draw them in (from who knows where.)
@BotanicalWoman5 жыл бұрын
So I have an on going fungus gnat problem as well and recently started adding diluted hydrogen peroxide to my water to kill the larvae and I would recommend doing this until you stop seeing any adults flying around. For the adults, as they are super annoying, I use the yellow sticky tapes. Like all solutions, staying consistent is the key which I have a difficult time doing because sometimes I spray how my plants at sink instead of watering from the can. I do my best and keep up with it. I find that hydrogen peroxide is easier for me to use then mosquito bits because when I run out of water in the can, i just add more HP but with MBs, you can't really do as they need to be soaked to release. I guess it boils down to how large of a water reserve you can have and i live in a small apt and keeping a 2 gallon watering can is all I can really do. Hope this helps! =)

Botanical Woman Yes thank you! How do you get your plants to dry afterwards though?
@BotanicalWoman5 жыл бұрын
@@lifeaccordingtome4283 I just let it dry out naturally, nothing special. add hydrogen peroxide to your bath, in addition to the castile soap. =)

You can also just spray the whole plant a few times outside before beinging them in. Works just as well, less messy too.

Question,Is that a cold ops hot humidifier you have going. And should I have it on 24/7? Someone told me, actually going back before you were born I am sure the 1970's there were plants all over to buy even in Macy's! The young person who was in charge of this one Plant Boutique,said: there is no such thing as a house plant" And I was baffled at first, but I guess she was right because plants should be outdoors so I think the humidifier you have is a great idea.
@BotanicalWoman3 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't use humidifiers anymore mainly because I live in the PNW where is not very dry to that end I have also found that using boxes, whether that is a greenhouse or a plastic box is best if you really want humidity have a major affect on your plant growth

Awesome thank you so much, I tried this tactic out! Also, I was wondering if you could give some advice about tightly packed soil: When I repotted my new plants, I ended up packing the soil tight around my plants. I have ALOT of plants that I repotted this way, and I'm so worried that I'll stunt their growths or cause root rot. I was wondering what you would do about this? Keep poking chopsticks in the soil, or repot them altogether? Thank you and keep up the AMAZING work!!

yeah poking to loosen it up sounds good.

Very useful video, thank you and hello!!!! 😀 I should finally start disinfecting the gazillion plants that will have to come inside, although at this point, I think it'll be easier to just cover them when (and if) winter comes... It's mid November and our high temperatures are 22-24°C, insane!!! I have a few videos too and hopefully a tour might be up soon-ish. I do struggle with a new freaky new pest though, so I still need to treat them. I might use your method for some of those. Have a great weekend!! 😊

how do you keep your calathea orbifolia from getting black edges? what soap did you use?
@BotanicalWoman5 жыл бұрын
I have three orbs, two inside a box, doing great, one in open air and it's miserable and it's too big to fit into a box. So that tells me it's humidity so raise the humidity to like 90%. But if you growing it in open air, it's going to be really hard, maybe moving it into the bathroom? I use Castile soap.
