This is an eye opener for me. When he started saying that "if you're young, you might have not tried many things yet". Deep down, I felt that. I grew up, being scared of trying things because whenever I failed, I was laughed at. I found a hobby I loved deep down when I was 15, after facing my fear of trying something new. Though I'm behind of everyone (currently 17, the hobby is singing), I realized I enjoyed it. Now, this video inspired me to find something i might be passionate about... I switched my major from Biology to Comp Sci 2 years ago and it was the greatest decision I’ve ever made. A recommendation I would give you is to list out the possible careers and directions you could go (essentially you can always break into field but just for sakes) from each major of interest, and if you feel like you’re chasing only one or two types of jobs/areas that major offers then eliminate it. I’ve found that your more likely to give up on a career/interest if you have to go through an entire field just in hopes that one specific sub field is the one. What happened for me is when I changed my major I was interested in almost every single aspect of the field or at least appreciative of what I’d learn from that aspect. I discovered more motivation than I ever had and took additional classes every summer semester, increased my gpa, and completed many personal projects, while also studying more material on my own. With Biology I seemed to only care about med school and couldn’t see myself in hardly any Biology career (other than Bioinfomatics) whether it be research, any other post grad schools, or environmental jobs. So I changed majors and kept pre med, but eventually I dropped that as well because of complete interest in my computer/data science courses Good luck :)

I wanted to be the typical firefighter, police, pro gamer, game developer, game artist, pro lego builder, artist, etc. but as soon as I started music, I knew this was the thing for me. of course it's a lucrative career choice, so I am now working on high income skills in order to sustain myself, upgrade my life, go on trips to meet new people and network, and of course be there for my family if they need help. and this all thanks to a video I saw called "Sell me this pen." I'm 24 now. After I graduated High School I decided to work to help my parents and I realized after working for almost 6 months that I have to study for my future for me to find a stable job not just for me but also my parents and my sibling . I decided to study at least associate degree to work in a call center then after 2 yrs of studying Associate in Computer Technology (ACT) I leave my hometown to find a call center company to apply and get hired. I applied several times and sadly I was rejected then after several application I met this Guy ,we applied in the same company and he told me a story of him He's a tenured agent his been in several companies for almost 10 years I told him about my situation that I always rejected. He told me that he was been in my situation before. But in his 10th applied in a call center company hi was hired then that guy motivated me. Surprisingly on the 10th company I applied for I get hired. After almost 1 months of working as a call center agent I decided to resigned the reason is a became animic , working at night is very hard for me. Then for me to earn money I decided to find any job for me to pay my bill and for my daily needs, I became a delivery rider I work for almost 4 months as a delivery rider. That time I realized what carrer path should I choose. at the age of 22 I really want to get an stable job and also a career growth for me to earn more money. After 4 months I applied again in a call center company but again sadly I didn't make it I was rejected after training. I realized that call center wasn't for me. Then I get back to my hometown I felt I'm a loser that I didn't got a job and earn money. Same year my friend photographer told me that they got a photography studio , he Encourage me to go back in photography then I decided to be a photographer again ( I didn't mention that I became a photographer when I was in college a a parttime) but after working as a photographer I can't save money because of the salary. The photography in my hometown wasn't in demand. I resigned again then after a month I had a motorcycle accident and luckily I didn't die. I suffered a depression for several months of having that accident and no job no saving. I thought that time that I'm one of the Unlucky person in terms of career. After 1 year of getting my self in a mood to work again.I applied in 2 company 1st as a Field Collection officer and 2nd as a Promodiser as of now I'm confused what to choose. Then After watching this video I realized that any of those job I mentioned is right. Choosing a career path is hard but you'll know it by experience. So choose any legal job for you to earn and pay your bills. We don't know what the Destiny plans for as all we have to do is be prepared an take all chances and be patient. #Patience #Respect

You have done the right thing. Never do something you don’t like just because it may seem like a waste of time otherwise or you’ll be too old to change etc. The number one thing is to do what you love and then you’ll make money as you’ll be passionate about it.

Knowing that Dan Lok also bounced around between career paths until he reached 30 fills me with some hope about my life. I'm also pushing 30 and I've been in and out of career paths myself. Right now I believe that volunteering at a nonprofit while working at conventions might be good stepping stones for me as they might help lead me towards careers in impacting people. Even I see myself being onstage giving speeches to large audiences eventually.

I am completely lost Dan. I'm at aged 30 and I just quit my job. I really don't know what is my right path. I have putting most of my time to my previous employment but end it up with nothing so I've decided to quit. I worked as a personal assistant and I did "everything" I means everything includes house cleaning, laundry, whatever related to his daily living. I didn't have enough sleep, sometimes he even not allowed me to go home. I do not know what I'm gonna do next. I felt I am a loser, I have nothing. Please Dan, suggests me to do something here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Guide or lead me to a correct direction. Truly appreciated.

What i do is i sit on my bed and make lists of careers i find interesting. Then i research all of them and write down prices of courses etc. I look at all the options and research the careers on KZbin etc. Then you start eliminating some to make a shorter list. Try jobshaddowing someone too. It takes time and you have to really get to know yourself. I know the country you live in can make things so much harder, but consider immigrating (I live in South-Africa). Also look at shortage occupation lists in countries like the uk. Much easier to get a work visa when your occupation is on that list. I know its not easy but set your goals, make plans and try your best to get there.

@Idk-xi1tr4 жыл бұрын
My tips on choosing a career: Step1. Find at what area your good and enjoy, have interest in at. Ex: math, physics, humanities (history, philosophy etc), biology etc. Step2. Find one area that your interested outside of school (ex, technology, building stuff, how human body works, etc) Step3. List jobs that combine those two. If you cant find one that combine both, find one that completes at least one of the previous steps. Step4: List ALL pros and cons of the careers you chose, know the workplace, types of work, routine of these careers. Quit the ones you think arent that interesting as you thought or simply seem boring to you. Then find your profession. Some observations: 1. DO NOT romanticize any jobs. Every job has its boring part, its fun part, no job is perfect and there will be always pros and cons. Dont listen to ppl pretending the job is perfect. Be ready to list and research all of them and discover which one is more you. 2. Dont get desperate if you dont find your exact passion. By following those steps youre at least getting to a career you have a certain degree of interest in. Remember you can always try new things, your life doesnt depend on this decision. 3. DO NOT THINK ABOUT MONEY ON THE FIRST PLACE, THINK ABOUT IT ONLY ON STEP 3. And DO NOT THINK ABOUT STATUS OR "SOCIAL RESPECT", remeber a major doesnt define you and YOU are the one who shape how ppl view you, not a college decision. Hope i helped.

I started college thinking I wanted to be a teacher, however I didn’t like it. I then went to get a degree in public relations and I liked it and got a degree in it. However I wasn’t able to find a job with it so I decided to go back to school and now I work as a firefighter/EMT and am working to become a paramedic as well. I never would have thought I’d come to this career field but I’m glad I found it and took that chance on it.
