When I retired many years ago, I went through my closet and donated all my 'Work' clothes. Shirts, blouses, skirts, dresses & dress pants. My HOPE was that some deserving woman would put together an outfit, go on a job interview and be successful in getting that job wearing my very loved clothes.

That’s what I do too! I completely agree with you. I change out my closet every fall & spring. Another thing I’ve been doing is as I clean out my closet on those my seasons I reverse the hangers with the hooks facing the back of the closet that way at the end of the season I can see what I’ve worn and what I haven’t and that helps me clean out my closet as well. I get all the clothes that I took out put them in a Stitch Fit bag (they provide). It is pre-paid by them and ship those things. Clap my hands and get a few bucks back when they sell. Easy-Peezy

This came at the right time. I have a friend that lives close to Ashville, NC, destroyed during Hurricane Helene. She contacted our quilting group-Quilting on the Ridge. The people there are in need of Winter Clothes. Me and my husband had not purged our clothes in 5 years. So I had him watch this KZbin and away we went. We went through the hanging clothes in 5 minutes and we each had a large trash bag half full. After doing the same 5 minutes on the drawers we each filled our trash bags. What a wonderful feeling to be able to help others and empty your house of unworen clothes. Thanks again.

Funny story: Recently, a wire shelf in the main bedroom closet collapsed due to our over confidence in the structural integrity of the poor thing. It was so overstuffed with clothes hanging as well as many bins and basket sitting on top - I just couldn't hold on any longer. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The walk-in closet is 5 feet deep and 16 feet wide. We have lived in our home for 22 years, so that baby was FULL! We removed every single shirt, coat, shoe and belt, as well as purses and my husbands VERY large collection of trucker hats, and we spent two months going through all of it. The new closet is gorgeous! We purchased a wardrobe organization system from IKEA and got rid of about half of the items that used to live in the old one. The reason I am telling you this is because without your lovely voice in my head I don't know how I would have completed this project. You are helping so many people live easier lives. Thank you for being you and PLEASE keep telling us those funny stories about your life. They make me chuckle every time.

I have managed to maintain the same weight (plus or minus 5 pounds) for the past 10 years. I don’t say this to brag. The roadblock I hit when decluttering my closet was, “Well I still fit in it.” Most I bought when I was 20. I'll be in the middle of cleaning the sink and think oh wait I was supposed to vacuum but my momentum is on the sink so I just lean in and finish the sink 😂 for your clothes I felt the same and still working through them. What I found helped the most is breaking down the categories 1 at a time. I couldn't imagine going through my closet at once. 1 day I sat and tried on all my bras and got rid of a few. The other day I washed all my jeans and thought it'd be a good time to try them all on. I only got rid of 1 pair but it was progress because I had already gotten rid of a bunch of jeans from before. Best of luck!

@@megacoraltree576 I will tackle it. I have one small closet and some drawers. I got super lazy and started mixing categories. So here it is a the end of summer and several pieces have not been worn since I forgot I had them. I need to label the drawers on the outside and then file them in appropriate categories. If there is not label I forget what goes where, except for bras and underpants. Those I got down pat, and have been tossing some away as I take them out and see how bedraggled they are.

I’d gone through clothes in my closet a few weeks ago… but I decided to go through things again, and found a few more tops and a dress or two that just doesn’t make me happy anymore. Thank you again Cas for creating this!

Days 1-6 all done today (day 6). I had some clothes that I did not like wearing, they were too big, or the material collected my hair, and I was always pulling it out. I kept wearing them anyway. Today, with your encouragement, they are gone. Gone. I won't resort to wearing them again just because they were there. You really motivated me with this challenge.

I have never heard the term "bully clothes" but that's such a perfect description! I have also gained weight and stare at the clothes in my closet tearing myself down that I"m not smaller. Getting rid of them now. As you've said as well, if I get down to a lower weight, I can buy new things.

I appreciate you, Cas. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been. And I have so many clothes that I haven’t had the heart to throw away because it’s a “reminder- you are FAT and need to fit me again. Think of how much money you’ve spent!” And I’ve cried. And felt punished in my closet. But this has helped me scrap that mentality and start anew.

I hope one of the upcoming videos is motivational to get items out of the house! I feel like I second guess clothing especially because they just don't make quality items anymore and/or the price to get new things that will fall apart fast is out of reach. I tend to have only second hand anyway (not counting undergarments). Maybe concept "easy come, easy go" needs to come into play.

When I go through clothes and I'm not sure about something, I take advice from another video of yours and I put it up with hanger turned the wrong way, I'll leave it that way until I wear it. If the hanger has not been turned back around by the end of the season, the clothing goes.

This is the best way to declutter ever! I've done a lot of declutter sessions but it's time for another round. It is so much less pressure this way! I did a bathroom drawer just for fun! :) I'm currently about 8 months pregnant and I had about 8 maternity shirts I haven't worn the entire time so See ya! Don't need you! I'm looking forward to trying the yes/no method with my kids later this week.

Okay, so this is me again talking about being old and not being embarrassed so easily anymore. Of course you can tell an other woman if there is something, let’s say: less flattering in her appearance, don’t feel ashamed for being really helpful to someone and spare her being embarrassed or being laughed at by some idiots. Gets easier as one gets older🙄🙈. My English is remarkably poor today, I’m sorry. Great video as always! ❤

This was fun to watch...I also group my clothes by color....what I realized when I did this and then did a "color analysis" learning about the best colors for me was that I wasn't wearing the right colors to complement my skin tone and hair. This also helped me to eliminate clothes that didn't make me feel or look my best.

My husband and I had decluttered our clothes closet already so we finished the pantry and our Lazy Susan today. I also made bran muffins after finding so much bran in the pantry which we had for lunch. Warm bran muffins with a drizzle of honey - so good. We easily finished the cleaning supplies in 5 minutes yesterday and some things (car wax - can’t remember the last time that was used) were decluttered. Loving this challenge. Husband and I are having so much fun finding so much weird stuff (giant sponges?)

Cas - my birthday was September 1st, and I planned to follow this Declutter Challenge as a gift to myself. I signed up for your emails; I planned to invite my Mother to be inspired by the challenge, too, … but I have watched the videos without taking action. I am a shy person, so I didn’t remind any co-workers of my birthday, but a monthly birthday list is posted in the lunchroom, and a very outgoing co-worker spoke up during lunch: “Oh, yeah, it’s your birthday!” And several co-workers around the room cheered for me by name, which made me feel great 😊 However, one of my female friends sitting next to me, and a co-worker whom I dated sitting on the other side of me (who was right next to the co-worker who spoke up) never turned to me to say, Happy Birthday at all. Now, I know my other female friend, who was not there that day, would have said Happy Birthday, but the fact that the two people sitting closest to me neither looked at me nor acknowledged me or the shouts out from others around the room left me feeling invisible to them, and I haven’t been able to say anything to either of them, or start the challenge, because I feel unworthy. How may I pick myself back up, please? Thank you, friends.

Do not give your power away to these two impolite people. They are the ones with awful manners and total lack of social grace - anyone with just a smidgen of good etiquette would have turned to you and wished you a happy birthday. They are at fault, not you!!! Obviously, they both grew up in homes with no etiquette training. Too bad for them but their poor behavior is not a reflection on you!!! Just go about your day, lift yourself above their rudeness - be polite and treat them with professional courtesy - no more, no less. Be happy that several co-workers are nice and wished you a happy birthday. As a side note; I've always found it better to have lots of friends that are totally separate from my work. You are not unworthy because you work with people who are discourteous!!!! To give them a little grace - maybe they were having a horrible day and just couldn't bring themselves to share in another's happy day. In any case, just remember - don't stoop to their level, be professionally courteous to them but look for true friends elsewhere!!! If you haven't read Jennifer L. Scott's book ""Polish Your Poise" you might find it useful when dealing with unkind people - she also has a KZbin channel, The Daily Connoisseur. Now give yourself the gift of the Declutter Challenge!! You can do it!! Good Luck.
