This vid popped up io my feed randomly, but has actually been really insightful. We have a bunch of storage lockers at work that use this style of combination lock, however over the years staff members have left without passing on the combinations, and codes have inevitably been lost or forgotton, with many of the lockers now inaccessible. When I am next at work, I am definately going to give this a try (Its just a shame I came across this video after they recently bought a bunch of new replacement lockers!).

I wouldn't have thought this could work. The ones I've seen have red and blue tabs behind the buttons, each key moves the tab. Only the correct tabs moved allow the lock to open so all buttons feel the same. I'll give this a go.
@waddac2
@waddac2 Ай бұрын
Yes, if combination needs changing... Behind lock to change there are red tabs on most... Never seen blue tabs but that does not matter. If at work etc and get given code to open one, it does not matter in which order the code is keyed in, as long as all are typed in. If having issues opening one like I did here, I explain more tension maybe needed. An oval opener is easy to grip.... If rounded.... a pair of grips to apply tension to find binding buttons will help.

Could you try a hack saw blade with a slot in to slide between the lock and door to turn the spindle. Just a thought...?
@waddac2

Good point. There are tools made for that kind of attack and it will slip the bolt to open door, so not sure a hacksaw blade would work as never tried it. This method allows entry and when, you can remove lock and change combination if you wish, or keep same one after decoding it. Like I say though, very good point regarding hacksaw blade.

@waddac2 20 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting Sparky. I see your point with thumb/finger prints on code keys, but in a larger organization and schools, colleges etc there are many people that just see such a lock on a door and mess with pushing buttons like a fidget gadget LOL!!!! Also due to COVID many business cleaners are instructed to wipe such things several times a day, to help stop spread of COVID and other viruses, so with this being done many times, code buttons are all wiped.
@sparkyplug28

@ don’t disagree with your points, it’s not so much the buttons though but the metal casing thats behind finger grease leaves a smug on it. That area is harder to clean. Used to work in a health club/gym and now a hospital and you’d be surprised how often I can get the code using this method. I also tried your method out today and it does indeed work very well 👍

It's all well and good saying go digital but electronic locks all depend on a relay to transfer the digital signal into a mechanical action or release. Whether it is a latch release or a powerful electromagnet they can all be bypassed with a correctly placed magnet if significant strength. touch your magnet to the position of the relay and it opens. Not to mention for health and safety reasons they are usually set to a normally open state in case of power outages you want people to be able to evacuate in an emergency so if you can kill the power to the door lock it will open. Granted they can be set up to be normally closed but this typically will create a safety hazard as these locks are mostly used in businesses and/or public buildings with staff areas and deem such areas to be illegally unsafe pretty much globally. What you did there took you a long time but any digital lock could potentially be bypassed in less than 5 seconds.

Am I right in saying these locks aren't dependent on order so a code of 1234 will also work if you enter 4132?

You are right, I remember when I used to work in retail, the door to the staff side had one of these. I'd push C, then mash the code in all at once.
@waddac2
@waddac2 27 күн бұрын
Yes, you and Joe are correct. Code can be pushed in any order and door will unlock. Still have to push "C" first just in case people have messed with the door and randomly messed with buttons. But yes, code in any order. Sometimes this is ideal as you may have trouble remembering code if was given to you, this way you can memorize code which is easier for yourself
@Lardybloke1
@Lardybloke1 Ай бұрын
If it’s been regularly used then you can look at the sides of the buttons and you’ll see which ones have been pressed more often because they’ll have small scratches and lines on. That will give you the 4 numbers you need.
@waddac2
@waddac2 Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. YES, YES........ I know that and explained to others that if in a random place many just like to mess and push buttons. YES..... if only used by a few people on office door it is possible to do what you say. If company also has regular cleaning staff at 6am and through the day they may be instructed to spay and clean to stop spreading of germs which now includes COVID where cleaning is done more. If cleaners do this, whoever uses the door after as staff will have to push clear button each time etc.

Neil the Insurer had approached me with a job offer after Bob Nairac was lost, I did a background check and got the Regular IRA to talk, double-checked in the Commons, went silent so no didn't turn into an argument. I still saved Peter Carington's mojo when he resigned as Foreign Secretary, flogging the entire Cadbury Schweppes depot stores to NAAFI (there was nobody to stop me, best traditions of the Senior Service) which tickled him when he attended a Main Board meting that afternoon as a non-exec, so they hauled me out of the line into the Group HQ combat team in the Cola Wars, developing skills in economic warfare which translated into the WEU activity as the Iron Curtain fell - I'd given a heads-up to 5 in 78 and repeated it to the SG in Nov 88, which meant I was a must-have. That decade had been under the eye of a former FCO vetter, so when they raised the issue of the Rosenberg interdict, I talked them through it stepwise, and so became the first spouse in 40 years to clear it! @@jagaloon216 I've done a lot of tutorial videos on my channel and started out doing them quickly, just to show people. But the amount of comments I got back in the days were, video done to short, and can I not explain more. So I started going in depth after all those comments. Its difficult to please everyone as many people have trouble understanding. I apologize if you found video too was too long, but say, difficult to please everyone.

its a security warning and I do instruct people to get electrical digital ones. You have no clue about me and I am in the Security industry to assist in security flaws in locks etc and even worked with West Yorkshire Police on such matters

All skills can be used for nefarious purposes, but people still learn to box, learn to locksmith, learn to shoot, learn to fillet all of these COULD be dangerous but it doesn't mean a lawful citizen shouldn't be able to learn those skills, if I was you I'd delete that pea brained comment.

Yes I know that same button cannot be uses twice. I do however do this in the video as it shows viewers which are set and which are solid or more solid than others to set next.
