Knowing about the weather is important for everyone, but especially for pilots! That's why there's an internationally standardised system for reporting current meteorological conditions - METARs. In this video I'll show you how you can read and decode a METAR, with all important sections like ceiling, wind, visibility and present weather covered.

Very nice video! The only thing I think would be important to know as well, is that the cloud base is given in AGL not MSL. Depending on the Airport that can make a huge difference.

I believe the US deviate from the metar in this video with non standard horizontal distances with statue miles. Australia deviated until last year with funky tend type forecasts but we use taf3 now which are taf produced three hourly at major airports

Yeah, I think Canada has some creative deviations as well, but most of them still sort of make sense at least! And yeah, TAF isn't quite the same, but still a very similar format, and I think there's even more countries deviating from the standard there!

@@PilotJonathan I think taf3 is to the standard apart from the identifier taf3 in the report. Our TTF didn't match the rest of the world though previously

Personally for checking the METARs quickly I use metar-taf.com, however every country should also have an official source for aviation weather that can be used for real operations!
