The deal with LDS missionaries is that 98% or more of them are out there purely due to social pressure . . . from parents, grandparents, siblings, girlfriends, girlfriends' parents, teachers, neighbors, etc., etc., and not due to any real conversions or convictions of their own. So, most of them are on shaky ground, but they're too insulated / isolated to know it. They've been sheltered in a culture that thrives because it's comprised primarily of people who don't think too much, don't ask too many questions, and don't do too much research. Yes, ignorance CAN be bliss.

Yes, I left my family, friends, home, education, college, and dating so I could work 10 hours a day unpaid for 2 years in the prime of my life because of... social pressure. Not only would leaving the church be 100 times easier than serving a mission, you don't even have to leave the church to not serve a mission. Women aren't even required. Imagine being this dumb

When I was an exhausted, harried mother of three children under the age of four, the last thing I needed was Mormon missionaries knocking on my door…. So I invited them in, gave them a cold glass of water, and made them read Bible stories to my kids so I could get a break. 😂.

Yeah I don't know what the creator is saying. I met more nice people on my mission than mean. So many kind wonderful people out there. When I went on my mission no one said the whole world is sad and crazy. Some of the people that joined the church when I was on my mission where already the nicest Christians. So not sure what is going on with this video. Thanks for being nice to people. Sounds like you're kids are going to grow up to be good peoples.

I'm Catholic, I always like to invite the Mormons and JWs in to chat about scripture. Mormons are very kind people, I've never met one who I didn't like. There's been a few conversations I've had where I asked a hard question they couldn't answer but I don't like to get into all the really tough stuff about Joseph Smith's life bc its more likely than not to just make them scared or defensive. I prefer to ask pointed theological questions that may cause them to look up and see how disconnected mormon doctrine is from what the rest of Christians believe.

Roman Catholicism teaches a different gospel as well, for they teach that the blood of Jesus is not all sufficient for salvation, but that everyone has to go through "purgatory" first to atone for their sins before they can enter into heaven. This is not taught anywhere in the Bible. Roman Catholicism also teaches people to pray to the mother Mary, who they proclaim intercedes on our behalf to the Son. This is also not taught in Biblical teachings, for Jesus alone is our high priest who intercedes on our behalf to the Father. We do not pray or go through Mary, for she herself is a sinner and needed to grace of Jesus to be saved just like we do. Roman Catholicism is involved in idolatry sadly. Many try to proclaim saying a prayer or kneeling down before a statue of Mary is not idolatry, but the Bible clearly warns us of this very thing. I see many videos of people going up to statues of Mary, bowing down, kneeling, even kissing her feet at times, as they say their prayers. There is a recent video of where Roman Catholics brought out a statue of Mary to a table at an event, and everyone turned to face this statue, and they started to pray and recite the rosary. Folks, this is idolatry. There is no sugar coating it, however the Roman Catholic bible seems to omit the entire 2nd commandment regarding idolatry, and breaks up the 10th commandment into 2 parts to get "10" commandments.

@brotherinchrist72 Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. May God bless you and have a great weekend, I'll pray for you.

@@L.vegmadekid.V Can you show me in the Scriptures were Jesus taught us to pray to the mother Mary, and not to our Father in heaven? This is part of the problem we have in Christianity today, for many are praying and worshipping the mother Mary, even facing a statue of Mary, bowing down to her, and some even kiss her feet. This is called idolatry, the 2nd commandment, which has been removed by the Roman Catholic church as it doesn't show up in their Catholic bible.

@@brotherinchrist72 Maybe because the Catholic bible was written by a bunch of men who didn't want to give a female (i.e. Mary) equal prominence with the "Father in heaven" or Jesus? Very interesting that all of these monotheistic, male-driven religions make God male.

@@brotherinchrist72 Honestly though, as a Catholic I agree that we are involved in idolatry, hence why I don't pray the rosary or the Hail Mary, it just doesn't sit right with me. I also don't believe in Purgatory as I don't find any biblical evidence for it. However, I do believe firmly that Jesus is present in the Eucharist, given that he says, "This is My Body, this is My Blood". That is the only reason I have stayed Catholic (besides the fact that im under 18), but I do plan on exploring Protestantism more

Me neither. I remember them more in the 90's and early 2000's. We just didn't answer the door. I wonder if it's because the Church realized that there's not much point. Either Utahns are already Mormon, or if they're NOT then there is almost no chance you will convert them. They are immunized against it. lmao. If you can live in Utah without being Mormon, then a couple of missionaries showing up at your door is not going to change your mind.

I enjoy talking to the missionaries who come to my door, and I'm always nice about it,... but they sure don't want to talk to _me!_ Typically, if I tell them I'm an atheist, they're gone. Indeed, I've had missionaries (Jehovah's Witnesses, in this case) _literally_ run down my steps and away from the house when I told them that. If I just tell them I'm not interested, then they want to stick around. :) With the pandemic and everything, it's been awhile since Mormon missionaries came to my door. But the last time that happened, one of the guys pretty well admitted that his main reason for staying Mormon was because he'd lose his friends and family, if he left. Admittedly, I don't know any Mormons personally - not that I know of, at least - but their missionaries have caused me to wonder, more than once, if they even believe it themselves,... or if it's just that their tribe is Mormon and they don't want to lose their family and friends.
@amberinthemist7912
@amberinthemist7912 Жыл бұрын
I think that is absolutely true. Losing the community of the church is a terrible thing and keeps people in long past losing their belief. The church knows it and it's why they encourage it. There's also a strong force in mormonism to support mormon owned business and hire other mormons, so there can also be fear of job loss if you stop being mormon.

@@PattiQ I'm not aware of any experiment that can be done where we can observe someone making a choice. Are you thinking of something like choosing from a restaurant menu? How would we know that the subsequent action is the result of a choice, and not something predetermined or (some would say) random? Some more detail just to help flesh it out: it's generally accepted in physics, as far as I know, that things move deterministically (on a large scale) or randomly (on a really small scale). But neither determinism or randomness will result in what most people think of as choice. That's what I gained from searching the internet a while back for things like "Free Will and Physics". But maybe some new discovery has been made. If you find something, please let me know, and have a good one ❤️

Anyone who is "happy" in atheism, is not truly happy. They may show from their outward appearance this mask of happiness and they act very polite, stress free, etc, and they may truly believe that, but deep down, they are yearning for something more. What I have come to learn, if you choose to not follow Jesus, to accept him into your life, Satan will not interfere with your life at all, so if you have the most happy, pleasant, perfect life, and never have to deal with any issues, that should be a red flag indicator. All born again Christians will face personal trials and tribulations in their life. Sometimes when we find ourselves backsliding, the Lord will chasten us in his own ways that we may not understand or realize at the time, until a situation gets bad enough to where we surrender to God and ask him to take hold in our life again. LDS missionaries are good people who mean well, and I like to ask them questions that are real trigger points for them, such as, "if you were to die today, do you know with 100% certainty where you would go?" - "Do you have full assurance that you are going to make it to the highest level of the Celestial kingdom?" (that is their equivalent of Salvation). I like many points brought up regarding the CES letter and asking with a real love and positive tone, how they reconcile such things, and show them in the Bible how as a Christian, we have the full assurance of our Lord God. I sometimes like to point out to them, that as true born against Christians, we have our "2nd anointing" for our salvation is sure and secure, knowing the blood of Jesus covers all of our past, present, and future sins already, because Jesus imputed our sins to him at the cross, and then as a free gift of God, Jesus imputes his righteousness onto us, so that we stand spotless before the Father.

All people have hardship and trials. If you haven’t personally been atheist you can not say whether or not it would increase your personal happiness. If you read back over your posts, I invite you to look at the moments where you contradicted yourself and based your conclusions on logical fallacies. It’s in an interesting thing to read from an outside perspective and I have a lot of empathy for the things you’ve been taught. I’m sorry that you were lied to and lead to believe that one singular belief system is necessary for happiness. I hope you’re able to break free from that mindset one day because you might be pleasantly surprised by what you find on the other side. If an atheist told you, “I know you truly believe this. But deep down you yearn for something more.” How would that make you feel? Would an atheist telling you that change your mind? Probably not. Because it’s condescending and a bit silly if we’re being frank. You can’t possibly know what an individual is yearning for unless you have lived their life. I personally do not yearn for blood sacrifice or a savior or a belief in an imaginary demon who’s out to get me. My life has more meaning and purpose outside of organized religion. I’m also so much more grateful for this life post religion. That might not be the case for you. Maybe you want or need religion and if that’s the case, then I’m happy you’ve found what helps you make it through this life. But it would be silly to assume that what brings me happiness and fulfillment in life is what brings everyone happiness. That would be quite arrogant and hypocritical.

There is no other way, no matter how much you deny it, or believe in other things, our feelings and beliefs are not needed for God's truth and reality to manifest. When the day comes when our Lord Jesus Christ raptures his Church from the earth (meaning, all true born again Christians), and millions of people just vanish, will you believe the great delusion that will sweep over the earth? or will you be able to put aside your pride and preconceptions and realize real Christians were warning people and speaking the truth all along?

Hey David! Just thought you should know that your comment is gaslighting at best and intentionally lying at worst. They literally teach regularly from the pulpit and regularly in lessons that you can’t be truly happy or “experience true joy” without the lds gospel, which is untrue. But there are hundreds of quotes from prophets saying this. It is drilled into your head as an active Mormon. I agree that it is a crazy way to look at life, which is what I’m calling out in this video. I am not responsible for you ignoring the prophets and not paying attention during general conference. This is a HUGE part of the church’s teachings and one of their core beliefs that they repeat constantly. Did you serve a mission David? Because it doesn’t sound like it. Many of them come back completely traumatized. No one has to take me word for it. This can all be found on the church’s own website.
